Sequence is actually +1 / +2 / +3 etc.

0
0(+1) = 1
1(+2) = 3
etc.
Is 10-25-45-70-100-135-175-... acceptable? Basically, base is 10 and add 5s to the previous
10
10+15
10+15+20
10+15+20+25
blah... blah... blah...

You are essentially using the same base 0 sequence with an initial 1.0 jump but with a 0.5 increase each level (vs a 1.0 increase each subsequent level): 0 / 1.0 / 2.5 / 4.5 / 7.0 / 10.0 / 13.5 / 17.5 / 22.0 etc. No need to make it base-10, it does nothing but make the numbers to add/divide larger.

Changing either the base number or the amount of level increase will alter the payout structure -- incteasing the base number or decreasing the level jumps will create a flatter payout schedule for either cash or points. For example, when paying three places:
Base 1, 1.0 increases = 60% / 30% / 10%
Base 1, 0.5 increases = 56.25% / 31.25% / 12.5%

You can do similar modifications by increasing the base number:
Base 2, 1.0 increases = 53.85% / 30.77% / 15.38%
Base 3, 1.0 increases = 50% / 31.25% / 18.75%

How does the Base X, Y increases work like above? I prefer flatter payouts and/or scoring.

Relative to a 0-base with increments of 1:
Larger starting base number = flatter structure
Smaller increment increases = flatter structure

Thanks for this thread! I used it on Saturday.

We had a tournament with 17 people. We paid out top 6 to make it a little flatter, and used the structure listed ITT. People seemed to like the flatter payout where at least in 6th you still got something.

It worked well. The top three ended up making a deal and playing for a portion (13% of the remaining available money) only to first place and then chopping the rest evenly.
