What is your favorite poker chip distribution for a T10,000 tournament? If not one of the options above, add it into your post. Please explain why it's your favorite also if possible.

Assume a T25-T100-T500-T1000 chip breakdown.

Depends on single table or multiple table for me.
I like 12/12/5/6 for a single table
If it is a multiple table with re-buys I tend to like 8/8/4/7 more because otherwise there gets to be too many small denom chips in the mix.

After a lot of considering various recommendations, I decided to go with these breakdowns for the first T10k of all the T25+ starting stacks in my tournament set:

- up to 20 players: 12/12/3/7 (or 12/12/5/6 if not holding back some T500s to color up T25/T100
- 21-30 players: 8/8/4/7 (or 8/8/6/6)

I figured that more T500s would not give me enough bang for the buck. (Side note: my T500 is a CPC L9)

There will be some change-making, sure, but it should be fairly limited. There is a good amount of T1ks in the starting stacks where making change is fast and easy. There is also a good amount of T100s that could be used. I also have some buffer because I have separate dedicated colorup chips in T100 and above which I can just put into the color up only with bigger chips.

I like lots of T25s on the table. When coloring off the T25s, I am not afraid to put more T100s on the table. Some call it inefficient to add a chip you will remove in an hour or two, I call "making change" inefficient. I also call having lots of chips to splash around with "fun" (which is why I play poker). My group also likes "purple" chips, so I give 'em what they want.

I use...
  • 16/11/7/5 if the T25s and T100s will reach that far
  • 12/7/6/6 when they come up short
  • 12/12/7/5 for "efficient" chip breakdowns (when the chipset costs a little too much to make it huge)

:eek::eek::eek:
This wouldn't bother me so much if everyone kept their chips in even stacks of 10 or 20, but guys counting out 25's 2-4 at a time when someone needs a chip count drives me crazy.
