I'm not for the English or for the Italians.
May the best win (without arbitration error if possible).

My Sunday final will be at Wimbledon not at Wembley lol

Serious question about the penalty and judging in general:

I agree the penalty was soft, even though the replay shows clear contact from both defenders: One with his shin against the calf and the other has some contact with his hip after he starts falling.

However, if two strikers had done this to the last defender and won the ball, thereby getting a 2 player breakaway against the goaly, then the ref would have awarded the defender a freekick 10 out of 10 times, and absolutely NOBODY would have thought it was wrong or at least not whined about it, even though the decision is almost the same: The ref decides if a team shall get a great goal scoring chance or not.

This whole concept of awarding ridiculously soft freekicks to defenders, does it have any support in the rules, or is it just something that refs do?

It's one of my pet peeves with soccer. Don't touch the defender or it's a free kick!

Anyone else watching Copa America final?

I lived in Chile for five years and have strong ties to the country. As much as it pains me though I really am hoping that Messi gets to lift the cup.

Yep!! For sure!!

Born in Brazil. Cheering for Argentina tonight, big time.

Too complicated to explain, LOL!

After watching virtually all the Euro games, this first half of BRA vs ARG looked like an amateur league game.

One of the worst national teams of either countries I’ve ever seen, really. How low have they’ve gotten…

Messi is still Messi though, and at least, Argentina is ahead. Fingers crossed for a better second half and more Argy goals.

As bad as this Brazilian team is, the Argentine one is even worse.

Really, really stoked to see Messi winning a big international tourney for Argentina though. He’s everything that’s right about football imo. Definitely, and by far, one of the two best players I’ve ever seen playing. The other also being Argentinian.

I hope one day Brazil can go back to what it used to be in a distant past. And to some extent, Argentina as well.

Congratulations, Messi!

Time zoned out of it. Sounds like I didn’t miss much.

My wife is English-Argentine. One half of a possible truly historic weekend down. Congrats to Messi even though he choked on that goal against the goalie in the last minutes that would have been epic.

I hope for your sake — and everyone else that has been hyping this up — it actually does, otherwise the ribbing you're going to get will make Euro '96 seem like a fairytale.
Wonder who’s going to be the star of the next Pizza Hut advert  :ROFLMAO:

Southgate will get his tactics spectacularly wrong tonight and they'll just end up remaking the ad with him again.

Failing that, Maguire or Pickford.

For anyone wondering what @BonScot is referring to, Southgate somehow managed to sink to new lows after he missed that penalty against Germany in 1996 with this advert...
