Empress Star and Aurora Star Poker Chips (1 Viewer)

If all members that were not a member before 2015 would keep out of the discussion...we maybe could find closure on this.
Since this is not going to happen anytime soon... i have little hope this ever happening.

And just a little advice from a non GB-er....buy them if you want them and don't look back...or forget about them.

#NotMyGrail ;)

No chip is everyone’s “grail”. Hell, I wouldn’t take half tha chips sets on CT/PCF annual calendars as gifts.

But there’s no reason to post something like this except to publicly knock the particular chips and the people who made or own them, and that’s despicable.

GPI now has heavy restrictions on what spot patterns and spot colors can be used with white (or off-white) base chips. Basically no V patterns whatsoever, and most dark colors are prohibited.

Same reason that the ES cash $1 was changed from the originally-submitted P22 pattern to 818 (along with softer colors).

Undoubtedly due to an excessive production reject rate caused by the differences in melting temps of light/dark colors. Split spots, V spots that fall out, etc. BCC and ASM had similar issues.
The original white base on the 500 chip was HOT

I actually thinking of putting some sort of logo above the "Private" word
Like this?

Kind of ironic coming from you. A lot of your posts do nothing but take shots at people or make snide remarks towards others. Despicable.

What the...?!?

Using your own logic, I can argue there was no reason to post these are grail sets except to publicly knock the people who didn't make or own them, and that Toby is despicable for posting it. Clearly, that's not the case, it wasn't my point, and you know it.

Someone mentioned they are a grail set of chips. I said they weren't to me, just like plenty of people did in the original (multiple) discussions -- I don't recall you calling out people who said that back then. A few people have agreed with me (are they just as despicable as I supposedly am for liking my post, or less so because they only liked the post instead of actually stating the opinion?), and I'm sure there would be a vigorous debate on both sides if these were nominated for an "all-time grail chip Hall of Fame" -- I'm sure there are people who purchased these who would argue they aren't. There was no personal insults made against anyone involved in the process or purchase, no attacks on the chips/designs/process/etc, so please explain how my comment does any of the things you accused me of doing?

Or are you saying that people aren't allowed to express a opinion that disagrees with a position you hold? Or is it "first opinion in the thread counts"?

There just isn't anything positive that comes out of basically saying "I don't like your chips". Why would anyone want to say that about someone's chips? Why not instead just say what YOUR grail chips are. I've never understood people who are like, "those do nothing for me", or "explain it to me like I'm a 4-year old, why people like these chips". Maybe I'm a sensitive flower. Probably. But I just don't understand the need for people to say such things.

I don't think you're a sensitive flower (in a bad way (y)) -- in fact, I never expected @pltrgyst to react how he did.

Let's be honest here -- people have said a lot "worse" about the various Star line chip sets. People have criticized the color choices/edgespot patterns of certain Star chips, complained about the logo/inlay, etc... yet I never saw anyone call them "despicable" for expressing those opinions. I never called into question why people like these chips -- all I said was these were "not my grail set". I fail to see how making that comment insults anyone who has purchased/sold/coveted any set of chips (unless, for some unknown reason, my words command a hell of a lot more weight than I ever thought they did... if that's the case, how did I not know about it before now, and I seriously need to find a way to monetize it :)).

Edit: While I believe @pltrgyst overreacted to my comment, clearly there was something about me saying "these are not my grail sets" that he took offense with. My statement didn't insult Toby (or anyone) who purchases or purchased them, didn't criticize the chips or the purchasing process... it didn't even say that I didn't like the chips -- all it said was I would not consider these to be a "grail set to me".

If people aren't allowed to make that type of innocuous comment about these (or, frankly, any set of) chips, then what has happened to this forum? Should we be wary of saying we don't like the 36mm Horseshoe tournament sets for fear of, to quote the accusation against me, "publicly knocking the people who made or own them"? Are we not allowed to state our personal opinions on the edgespots/colorations/inlays of any casino chip for fear that someone will take offense because they happen to like/love them? Am I free to say I don't like TRK chips, because people who own those chips will think I'm attacking them personally? To take it to an extreme, is everyone "despicable" if they say they like THC over RHC, because that somehow belittles people who purchase RHC chips?

I view these chips differently than I would view (for example) someone's ASM/CPC order. These are, in my opinion, closer to casino (or fantasy) Paulsons/TRKs/BCCs -- and there has never been an issue with commenting on those types of chips in the past.

If my comment that the Star Chips are not my Grail Chips offended @pltrgyst , I am truly sorry and would invite him to PM me so I can understand how/why he took my comment as he did (in more detail than what was expressed in his original post).

If you are ever in doubt if you should make a comment on someone’s chips please see above.

The one exception I make is when someone approaches me with custom designs I believe it is my duty to give them my honest opinion even if they won’t like it just because I assume that is what they want. But once chips are made if you don’t like them it really is always best just to be quiet.

Not my grail set: any non custom set not designed for me personally.

Despite my love of trks and leaded paulsons, none of those are grail sets.

I love chips. I do not covet chips to the point that any are grail sets for me. There are some that I would love to have and others I can do without. In the grand scheme of things I could live wihtout any of them but I CHOOSE to enjoy the chips that come into my posession

SQUIRREL!!!

Keep on chipping!

Lighter hue needed on the Canary Yellow T5000 chip spot -- I think it was Hawaii Flower (and maybe Grape) T500 looks correct (White with Blurple/Lavender).

The darker spot on the Blaze Orange T1000 is Light Blue (which is actually dark), not Black. T100 is Charcoal with Hot Pink/Arc Yellow. The orange spot on the T25 is Carrot.

I'll have to dig up the actual colors used for all chips.
So, what are the colour differences between the released version and the beta version?

After reading this whole thing... I actually do have a legitimate question I'm interested in knowing... did the manufacturer of said chips for said boats find out that said boats were not.... real?

Well, some question is better to be left off unanswered.
