Does anyone know the story behind these chips? They started to flood the classifieds, and I've never seen them before. I was thinking they look like relabels, but saw some stamped chips. The pricing does seem steep.

Thanks!!
Gabe

Please tell me that your joking!
Get your popcorn, it's a hell of a story.
I'm sure someone will chime in or you can probably find a thread or two on them.

Yeah, I totally missed the story on these. Just been seeing the auctions with steep bids. Maybe these have a cool story like the Wynn poker chips :D

Okay the enigma of Paulson Poker Chips never ends (y)

I'm going to the bank right now for a personal loan. The pursuit begins!!! :D

From what I was told, Basically some chippers had chips made, pulled a fast one on Paulson, and made a ton of money selling them at inflated prices, though one would think with all those great minds, they would have designed much better looking chips, those not involved were sore at being excluded. I don’t know personally , except about the ugly chip part.

Thanks for the succinct summary. Saw so many references of some controversy while doing some research on these chips that I just had to ask.

The chips were made as a private venture for chip enthusiasts. There were no casino ships.

I think the goal was to get mint Paulson semi-customs. I don't think there was ever the goal to make a ton of money selling them for 3-4 times cost, but capitalism being what it is...

I know some held on to their chips without listing them in the classifieds...

But I've said to much already...

This poker chip story falls in line with the President Casino New Yorkers. Cruise ships that never left the docks. I’m greatful they are all in the poker chip community.
