Found Empress Joliet set suggestions (1 Viewer)

So I've had this tourney set for quite some time, I don't play a lot of tourney's but, when these get felted, it's memorable occasion for me and a few other chip degenerates. I've always wanted to expand this into a cash set which, some recently acquired butterscotch leaded THC's (murdered by someone else) will soon be joining the fold via @Gear as frac's. I also have some Jack Cincinnati $1's that could be murdered, but just doesn't seem right to put those into the set. So... im looking for trade ideas (or straight up buys, I know, call me stupid) that any of you other Empress hoarders might consider to get me into some legit Empress singles, or at least leaded THC's that might be passable.... Also a rack of clean $5 secondaries, always worth the ask.. open for ideas.

His chips are pretty minty though. Obviously these are the best choice, but they won't fit unless he can find minty. I know where some are, but I don't think they are for sale.

They're not for sale. I can't find $500s that fit the set. I was going to try and trade the racks for higher denoms plus cash, if possible.

I don't have a tournament set of these and only recently completed my mixed cash set, otherwise I'd gladly help ya!

I did finally find myself some of these after 2 years of searching. However, it took help and some $$$ to get em. I was very lucky I'd say. I'm in love with my set, and it's my only THC leaded casino set, and it's not even pure since it's mixed fracs and $1s, but I still love it and it was well received when it got felted

I know for a fact there are a few keen PCFers, who have made off-site finds recently, and found some of these in this near mint condition.

Considering how long I've been here, I've done okay so I wont fold at all. We are at different tables...you've got some years on me. I didn't even know what a Paulson was when you likely started collecting...

What a set you've got there, with new $5s & $25s! I probably fall into the category of an Empress hoarder myself, but all my $5 & $25 chips are in very used condition, but most barrels still fit just 20 chips in a 66.7mm barrel. I used to own a rack of Empress $1s (yellow/gold spots), but they were also in casino very used condition. I don't recall ever seeing a photo of a rack of Empress $1s that were in mint/new condition, but I see a couple chips in the photos of the 2 racks above.

^^This is my reaction, too! I wasn't around in this hobby for the original Chiproom sale for the empress chips, but I was able to snag a rack of $100s soon after I started this hobby.

If you're looking for a rack or two of new/excellent $1 chips for a cash game, I'd recommend finding another white THC chip to use & relabel, like the NYNY $1 above, or say the Bally's Las Vegas $1s or Venetian $1, or even a light blue solid - like Flamingo $1 or some other color solid THC, like a generic roulette/hotstamp that could be milled & relabeled.

So I might opt for the murder route, and there are some long time chippers who have them in better-than-bicycle-tire condition (I've seen them!). Patience!

I just remembered I once played in a cash game that used tournament chips for a cash game, where the black 100 chips were used as $1.00 and the purple 500 chips were used as $5 chips. I don't think the chips had a dollar sign on them, but everyone knew what the chips represented, and all the new players were told on their first time, and it wasn't a problem.

Since you mentioned fracs, I'd assume your game runs 25/50cent or 50/50cent blinds, so it might be possible to use the Empress $100s (or even $1000 chips) as $1 chips instead.
