[EDIT]

So I think I have a better understanding of what these chips are worth after a zillion pm’s. I also got some seller’s remorse as I was taking pics for the listing. I’m going to hold back some chips to keep a small cash game set for myself. The available quantities and asking prices are as follows:

$1: 300 @ $2 ea = $600
$5: 300 @ 75c ea = $225
$25: 120 @ 75c ea = $90
$100: 40 @ $3 ea = $120
Total: $1035 for all

All prices are plus shipping and fees. I would prefer to sell them all at once. If broken I have commitments on 200 of 300 $1s and all the $100s

Thanks for all the help!

[EDIT]

Hello all,

I’m trying to get an idea of interest level and the value of these chips. Open to selling part or all depending on pricing.

Chips are in used but cleaned condition. Condition from worst to best would go:
$5->$1->$25->roulette->$100.

Roulettes are a mix of “M” and “N”. Hot stamp integrity varries but they are all still readable. Should be able to make a full rack of each letter but would need to double check.

The $5 are two slightly different colors and would have to sort through to see how many of each I have.

Any help with what the different values of each would be and interest in buying would be much appreciated.

Quantities are as follows:
Blue roulettes:249
$1:429
$5:352
$25:121
$100:41

Dealer button would be available if I sell off the whole lot. If I can keep enough for a small cash game set I plan on keeping it.

Can add more pics if needed

As a general value based off previous sales: Used $5s and $25s are generally ~ $.75/chip, $1s can be in the $1-2/chip range and $100s maybe $2-3/chip. Roulettes are about $.50/chip depending.

What’s the consensus on this?

Was told by a little birdie the $1s could likely fetch $2-3ea maybe more based on the supply/demand.

I’m not trying to fleece anyone but I’m also not looking to give them away either.

I think those prices are pretty in line. Worth is only what someone is willing to pay. I paid less than those prices for all of my Empress chips.

Those showing interest please pm me quantities and price willing to pay. Will split if can get enough of them gone.

Quoted prices seem pretty accurate for the used secondary chips ($1 chips included, which might draw a bit more if you cherry-picked out the best of the lot). The primary $100s I'd put at around $3/chip unless nicked up; maybe a tad more with a motivated buyer.

It also depends on condition. If there is a rack of near-mint $1s, they might fetch upward of $3/chip. I bought a rack of those same $1s with yellow & gold spots in casino used condition that I bought in the past year or two from someone on PCF for a less than $2/chip.

On the other hand, if I had a partial rack of 97 $1 Empress chips, I might pay up to $6/chip for the last 3 chips to fill it.

Some more pictures of the edges of the chips sitting in racks, close up pics, etc. can help potential buyers figure out how much they're willing to pay.

maybe more based on the supply/demand.
You could test the supply/demand theory by holding an auction for 1 rack of $1s. .

I wasn't around when the Empress chips were sold by the chip room, but this is the most $1s I've seen together for sale ever. Impressive.

The $1's you have - the secondary version - I'd put at $175-$200 a rack. It's the primary version that goes for more. I've have snap bought even the most beat up rack of them at $250; more appropriate prices on those are $300-$400 depending on the buyer.

Empress chips, historically, have always had pretty strong demand. They're one of only a few THC sets out there. You'll get good value by auctioning them off here.

I'm swimming in pm's on these chips. If interested send an offer. Going to go through them all a bit later tonight. Also going to try and grab some better pics of the chips to better show condition. Stay tuned...

I recall @liftapint and @chipjoker had decent sized sets of these a few years back (including $1s). They can probably shed some light on the current value... based on what they paid/sold for however many years ago it was.

The condition of the $5’s are the most variable. The greens could use some oil.
Lighting was tricky, the inlays all glowed with the flash or too bright of backlighting.

Why are the roulette chips value so low ? Is the quality low ?

They were cheaper at the start back when chip room sold them originally. Also they aren’t true “poker” chips with values which I think has something to do with it.

Just for the quality of the chip and the clay, Paulson roulette chips are equal or even better condition, than Paulson casino chips with inlays/denominations. But here are a few things working against the Roulette chips and how PCF'ers value them, even ones with more desirable hat & cane mold. They: typically don't have edgespots, typically don't have a graphic inlay, don't have a $ denomination, so if someone wanted the chip to have a denomination or label, they would need to have the Roulette hotstamp milled/flattened/sanded and labeled over, which will cost some $ per chip, so the baseline value is less. However, roulette chips might have a higher value on RCF (Roulette Chip Forum). :D

The most knowledgeable chipper know regarding the Empess Casino Joliet chips is @Psypher1000 , by far -- he bought most of my large set, went on to probably triple (or more) the size of his combined set, then sold off extras, before eventually selling all or nearly all of them here on PCF, most within the last year.

If anybody has a clear picture of what ~all~ of the chips - primary, secondary, casino-used to excellent-shape to mint-condition (not many of those out there, relative to the total in circulation), are bringing in today's market, it would be @Psypher1000 -- shoot him a pm if he doesn't reply here.

Good photos above. They help a lot. As an Empress chip owner myself, they look to be in typical, normal, (used) condition, like most of the Empress chips.

I spy exactly 1 $25 chip with sharp edges, exactly 1 $100 chip with sharp edges, maybe 1 or 2 $1 chips with sharp edges, and 1 $5 chip with better-than-most edges. With the odd number/extra chips you have, you could create a nice sample set from these 4 sharp-edge chips without breaking up racks or barrels -- you could either sell the sample set separately, or offer it as a bonus to the person who buys the most from you. (Full disclosure: it won't be me).
