500 Desert Palms China Clay set in tournament denoms of 25/100/500. Not the cheapo ABS plastic version. I personally don't like this breakdown but the(current) low cost and the ability to add on to this set makes bidding on this a no brainer for those looking for a decent quality tournament set.

I might make a bid if no one else does.

Tommy, sorry if this is in the wrong place. Didn't seem to be anywhere else for it.

The chips in that listing are not china clays they actually are the cheap plastic chips. I have a sample set of both of them, here is a pic, the china clays are on the top.

Ahhh I see. Never having handled these in person I didn't realize that the spots are different. I stand corrected.

Honestly I am not sure if these are a good deal or not but from the couple minuets I just spent handling these chips I wouldn't recommend them. They are very slick and feel cheap.

I made the assumption that these are the CC version because the seller is a CTer and would know the difference between the two versions because of that. My bad. I would also not recommend the cheap plastic version. The China Clay version however would be a good, decent starter set for those looking to upgrade from dice chips and their ilk.

Yeah that's what I thought just by initially looking at them, they do look quite cheaply made.

I don´t like buying Chips on eBay as well, I need to hold them in my hand before I buy them.

That's the risk with eBay. You can't hold them in your hands. CL seems a better bet for chips, honestly.

The problem with CL is that if you're looking for a certain type of chip you have to be lucky enough to have someone selling it in your area. With eBay the chips you're looking for are likely to popup there if you're patient.

Also for me if I was in the market for CC I would buy mine directly from The Chip Room. AFAIK Jim is the only retailer that carries the CC versions of the Desert Palms and Dunes Commemorative along with the Pharaoh's Club chips. They're inexpensive enough brand new and you'll be buying from a reputable seller.

There always seems to be a sense of risk when buying anything of eBay.
CC is better bought from a trusted seller, rather than of some guy with little to no recognition across the globe.

This is exactly my problem right now. There are a handful of casinos nearby, but if I'm hoping AC or Vegas chips will make its way on Craigslist...that's one in a million.
