Cash Game Does your significant other know? (1 Viewer)

Worst poker period of my life and I’ve been playing 15 years. I’m not even sure what the fuck I’m doing strategically at this point
Lol, quit ignoring that tapping on the glass……

When you play for fun or entertainment, you dance all night with Variance. And she can dance until the sun comes up and into tomorrow. And although she shows you favor sometimes, she’s got some dance moves you’ve never seen.

I try not to dance much with her, although she occasionally shimmy’s in. But I know the songs she likes, so when they start playing I try to sit them out, no matter how much my feet start tapping and no matter how much fun it could be to complete a tango with her.

It’s dazzling to see Variance dance, but I prefer her sister, Patience. She likes the slower, less dramatic dances, with a lot less flourishes and spins. You move slow with her, but at the end of the night you go home slightly tired from the dance, and you wake up refreshed, knowing you had a good time, even if Variance did cut in on a couple of the slow dances.

Oh yeah, their cousin, Paloma, is also a hard dancer, but that’s a different story. Sometimes she’s a lot more exciting than Variance, but her charms wash away your reluctance to dance and often you find yourself dancing with both of them at the same time while Patience sits in the corner sipping club soda.

The CLB thought it was ridiculous that I had a separate roll for poker and wanted some of the money to flow back into the family coffers. She knows exactly the stakes I play and I tell her about wins and losses. She can usually tell from my facial expression anyway.

I tried to explain that having a buffer of a roll prevents the playbad as you feel the pressure of being short when buying into games.

She accepted it but really didn’t understand it until I dusted off $2500 at a 3 day 4/8 limit mixed game festival in Vegas, $5K taking shots at 20/40 mixed at the WSOP, 20 straight losing 6/12 and 8/16 mixed casino game sessions here in AZ, and $3400 in Ohio at the meetup. Worst poker period of my life and I’ve been playing 15 years. I’m not even sure what the fuck I’m doing strategically at this point.

So bad news i’m stuck like $15K this year - biggest loss ever by an exponential factor - and it’s playing small ball limit and pot limit mixed games.

Good news (I guess?) is that she gets the need for a roll now.

Probably not playing any poker at all until I get a bonus check in March. Never taken 3 weeks off before. We’ll see what 4 months does.

Cliffs: yes, I am available to come to your home game after March of next year. It’s fine to put the down payment on that vacation home, just tell me when there is a seat open.
It might be time to follow in @MatB ’s footsteps and turn tournament PRO.

Sadly I was drunk for exactly 2 sessions during this 5 month losing streak. I can’t “blame it on the cassapaloma.”

I’ve been hanging out alot with your girls’ older dirty uncle, Incompetence, and his gangster handler, Massive Inferiority. They aren’t nice people.

I originally read "Incompetence" as "Incontinence" which would probably be an even dirtier uncle.

I would kick out Incontinence out into the street unless he brought along my great uncle, Intoxication and his half brother, Immobilization. Then it’s a parrrrrrrtty.

My buddy has a thing if his wife asks. It’s either “pretty good, I won twenty!” Or “ehh… Lost twenty.”

He plays 1/3 so it’s usually +/- $500
He’s a winning player with solid bankroll management so it’s mostly just their way of avoiding the whole conversation I think.

For me I’ll tell her everything, and while she doesn’t play she knows the game fairly well so she’ll even ask about big hands. Like last night I lost an $800 pot when my aces were cracked by 53 “BUT IT WAS SUITED!!”

She’s a good sport!
