Do you have a dedicated dealer (not playing) in your home games? (32 Viewers)

Started a home cash game of mixed games. I deal (we pash the shuffle) since a lot of players are newer, but it’s a lot of work.

Do you have a dedicated dealer? I’m considering paying someone else to deal (and not play). What would you offer to pay tip a dealer of a .25/.50 home game for 5 hours??

I don’t take a rake, I have a dealer and if players don’t tip they don’t get invited back. Everyone tips, I don’t mandate but $1 a hand is about right. I also don’t invite nits or ppl that are worried about their hourly rate.

I usually have a dealer who works for tips only. Absolutely no rake, ever. Like @Machine said, you don’t tip, you don’t get invited back.

For a .25/.50 game though, players probably won’t be tipping enough to make it worthwhile for the dealer. Especially so with mixed where you see fewer hands per hour. Talk to some dealers and see what they’re looking to make. It could be a “pre tip” up front per player, plus tips during play afterward that gets the dealer to the desired dollar amount.

I host, I am the dealer. Sometime I have the second dealer across from me in case I do get tired.

A dealer who is competent and knows what the hell they're doing deserves to be tipped. If there is a flop, I'd say a dollar per hand as long as the nits didn't check it all the way down. A little bit more if the pot gets somewhat sizeable.

I like to play when I deal when available, and accept tips but sometimes feel a little weird about it. A designated dealer more often than not is more efficient than self dealing around the orbit.

Edit: I would pay $20/hr as a base for a  good dealer. Not real good might bring it down to $60 for a 5 hour game.

Almost always Self dealt unless a player is physically unable to deal then someone will deal for them.

When we have a dedicated dealer they don't play and I would pay them and not expect mandatory tips (but allow them if voluntary).

Self deal, we use a ST 1000 shuffler, helps speed up game and also
Helps with people that have a problem shuffling

I host and I deal with the small blind shuffling a second deck. Lots of hands but most of the players don't realize how much work it is to play and keep the game running smooth. One of my guys recently dealt a game and could believe how little time he had for anything else. Ya it's work. I appreciate tips but they aren't required. I would likely deal a game for $20-25 an hour and not play. I play at the local Shriners in town and dealers get a few bucks and play. If I place I toss them a few bucks because I definitely got to see more hands because of their skill .

We always self deal. It’s not too hard to learn

As they always say: Give a man a deal and you deal him in for a hand. Teach a man to deal and he’ll deal for a lifetime … or something like that
