Without knowing what Paulsons you’re working with,

Where's the do both option?Been thinking about it for a while now and am in a bit of a weird spot. I know @Eloe2000 recently went to only customs and he seems to be loving it. My crew is primarily tournament people and my cash sets sitting.
I guess what I’m debating is dropping my paulsons to go full customs. Plus CPC designing has been a ton of fun for me. Just something about it.
Also as a side note my joy for this hobby has primarily turned to attending meetups and just hanging out with great people.
Love to hear what you guys think as I feel I’m not the only one who has been thinking this recently.
Those are freaking unobtanium. I think somebody would have to be insane to sell those. But they are cash chips, and @Rbonus012 mentioned that 1) he can’t get a cash game going, and 2) he’s getting a huge kick out of designing chips. So it seems to me that he should probably get out of the Paulson game.

We can all share our thoughts, but when it comes down to matters of taste, everybody has to make their own decision. Personally I don’t see the value of customs - they’re just not for me. But I don’t tell people not to get customs (especially since you can make a CPC set that looks and feels better than the majority of Paulsons on this site IMO.) To me, it’s like tattoos. I’ll never get one. But I’m not telling other people not to get them (except my minor children, ha.).
Blah blah blah - it’s a totally personal decision.
Remember too that the mold changes the feel considerable. I used to think I didn't like CPCs because of the feel...turns out I just don't like the feel of the A-mold...then I got my second-hand diamond-square cash set, and they're amazing. If you rub two chips together they don't feel gritty but buttery smooth. Imo scrowns also feel great. Get some mold samples, it makes such a differenceWhen I used to have Paulsons and ASM, my players never liked the ASM. Paulsons (especially some of the older ones) have a nicer feel.
I would never sell these to get cpcs. There are very few sets I would even consider parting with these for if I owned them.
Yeah, unless you genuinely need the money for your wedding, @Rbonus012, I think you'd seriously regret letting these go.
Paulson cash set, CPC tourney set. /thread
Have you looked at the custom set showcase thread? Not every set in there is CPC (most are). And it doesn’t have every CPC set that people have designed but it will give you the idea of what’s possible.I was all set on just hunting for a paulson THC set (or various sets)..and now this thread popped up and now i am trying to figure out if i want to get my own custom cpc set..this forum is a bad influence.
To CPC hotsampers?I will convert all of youuuuuuuu

It’s not just non-chippers. Although there are a few custom sets I love, and a bunch more that I appreciate, it all just feels very gimmicky. Match them with a dealer button and some custom bunch chips and all-in plaques, all on a matching custom cloth, and it just feels like play time. For custom chips, they feel that they're gimmicky.
Exactly my point. If this is what makes you happy, then you go for it. But that's perhaps why there should not be a choice between the two. In my mind, it's not one or the other. It's what makes you happy, and for the people here I believe what makes most of us happy is having both. You get to lovingly craft a set with colors, edgespots and inlays to your specifications. There's nothing quite like having a unique, customized set,
