Easter feast.
 
couple friends and i made dinner for one of their sisters and 5 of her friends + husbands last night.

deviled egg with summer sausage and cheddar cheese in the filling, topped with ritz crackers, chives, and fried summer sausage. kind of a play on the cheese, sausage, and cracker plate every wisconsin party has.

gazpacho-inspired consomme with basil oil and pea shoot leaves

french onion wedge salad with caramelized onions, a french onion soup vinaigrette, fresh breadcrumbs with garlic and thyme, grated gruyere, and a parmesan tuille

seared scallops over crispy coconut scallion rice and a red curry sauce with pickled vegetables

veggie course served family style, carrots roasted in chipotle oil, topped with a lime crema and a carrot top gremolata; asparagus almandine; fennel, celery, and feta salad

braised short rib and polenta with a blackberry brandy and balsamic reduction

strawberry rhubarb compote with a vanilla and mascarpone cream, topped with a savory granola (thyme and black pepper) and fresh strawberries.

grapefruit and elderflower cocktails started things and espresso martinis capped off the night, with a dozen bottles of wine and a couple bottles of bourbon in between.
