I am only one of three people I know that will actually go to a casino and play poker. I have come up with a friendly blind structure and starting chip stack that will make the person who only plays poker maybe once or twice a year feel like they aren’t throwing money away and can have a good time while drinking a few beers and seeing tons of flops. Depending on how long you want the tournament to last I have used starting stacks of $5k, $8k, and $10k usually buy in is $20-50 and blinds usually 25min or 30 min. I found that the $8k starting and 25min blinds work the best and lasts around 6-7 hours for a 3 table tournament.
Starting stack
(12) $25 chips =300
(12) $100 chips =1200
(7) $500 chips =3500
(3) $1000 chips=3000
Total=8000
Blind structure is:
25-50
50-100
75-150
(10 min break if needed)
100-200
150-300
200-400
(10 min break and race off 25 chips)
(I also close rebuys at this point if it’s a rebuy tournament)
300-600
400-800
500-1000
(10 min break)
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000
(10 min break race off 100 chips introduce 5k chips to larger stacks)
1500-3000
2000-4000
2500-3000 (optional level)
(10 min break)
3000-6000
4000-8000
5000-10000
6000-12000
8000-16000
10000-20000
Etc...
The point of this structure is to allow slow structure with the 75-100 and 150-300 levels added in, this is especially good for rebuys since the person who rarely plays poker will be throwing chips at about 85% of the pots also makes for a fun day, I use this for Hockey Day MN and get around 3 tables let me know thoughts cheers!
