Deckmate 1 Guide (3 Viewers)

I just received my Deckmate from minedelta on Friday and put it in to service last night. The shuffler was great to play with and worked perfect. I picked up the cabinet from IKEA that I had read about from other posts. That was an easy affordable solution for now. The height of the cabinet was perfect.

Here are a few pics of the barn we play in with the shuffler and cabinet:

@LeCoq that's crazy you that side table you got from AGS wasnt great. For 500 dollars and at least from the pictures it looked solid. Thanks for letting us know because if I got desperate enough I would of coughed up the money for one. Maybe this one that Snakeeyes posted might be a good to try.

@minedelta the table itself isn't that bad although I was expecting a heavier and sturdier table. The awful part is the cutout. Way too big. I literally could not position the deckmate to cover the entire cutout. you would have a gap somewhere. Just really sloppy oversized cutout. People should just get a table or cart and make their own cutout. They couldn't do a worse job.

I received mine last Thursday from Mike and used it on the floor during my Friday game. However, I bought this same cart from Ikea (arrives tomorrow) which I saw in a previous thread with a Shuffletech installed in it.

I plan to set it a little further back in the cabinet with the door opening to the front. I bought an AV cabinet exhaust fan which I plan to mount up high in the back of the cabinet to help pull the heated air out. Figured I should do this since the DM has an exhaust fan as well. The slot in the door on the other side should allow cool air in. Also bought a power brick with an on/off switch to install so the DM and the exhaust fan can run off of it, while also allowing a phone charger spot on the table (or whatever). I may also install a couple of cup holders at the very front of the table. This way in case anyone feels inclined to set a drink on the cart (I hope not!!), at least there will be cup holders to keep them from being knocked over and into the DM. Again, not putting the cup holders there to encourage drink placement, but more of a just in case option. I will be sitting next to the cart all of the time anyway, and the cup holders more than likely will be holding my cell phone and other items. I like the rolling cabinet idea as well because the bottom of the cart under the DM, I can store extra cards, maybe chips, and also a good spot to keep the bank!

Anyway, once its all done, Ill post some pictures as well.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project. I did not feel any real warmth coming out of the cabinet after running it for 5-6 hours. I was wondering if I would need a fan but now I dont think so. I am also not allowing any drinks on the cart. Too much risk for me. Thanks for the update.

I always recommend fans but I know some people run without so I don't really know how much affect it has. The deckmate fan should be pulling hot air out of the dm1. So not sure if the box need to pull hot air our or push cool air in. 🤔

It's basically a computer desktop maybe it gets the cool air when the top opens and pushes the air out the bottom so maybe you only need a vent but im sure a fan wouldnt hurt.

The theory is you want to force air out of the cabinet which will pull cool air in. The cabinet has an open pull slot in the front door, so this would be the air intake. Same theory applies to computer cases and deckmates. With the exhaust fan blowing hot air out into a closed space, the air in the cabinet will get warmer over time. The DM pulls air in through its vent slots (located on the underside of the unit) and without any circulation in the case, it will be pulling in air of the same temperature.

With an exhaust fan pulling air out of the back of the cabinet (up high as hot air rises), it will pull new air in from the front of the cabinet which will be the cool air. This way, when the DM is pulling in air for the same purpose, the air should be cooler than the air it blew out.

May not need it, but it's one extra hole and a few extra bucks for peace of mind.

If anyone is interested, here are the things I bought... You may want to wait until after its all done to make sure it all works according to plan, but here at least is my parts list as it stands:

Rolling cart: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/alex-s...oogle_shopping_clicks_Workspaces&gad_source=1

Went ahead with the cabinet project today and everything worked out perfectly as I had planned it. IKEA didn't ship me the casters, so I will be installing those and making it roll once they get here, but otherwise, all done.

I decided against the cup holders and actually like the extra room in front of the shuffler for placing cards, or whatever. I'm hosting this Saturday, so it will get some use then. Here are the photos...

For some reason, the website is starting to rotate photos automatically. Those were all correct in my phone, but the site turned them sideways and I don't see any way to fix them.. strange.

Its helps a little, but not as much as I had hoped. I may put some sort of padding under the lip that keeps the machine from falling through the hole. I think that metal on hard wood without any dampening is adding to the sound with the vibrations transferring to the cabinet. With some sort of foam padding under that lip, it may quiet it a little more. No matter what, you are going to hear this shuffler...

Looks nice. I didnt find the noise that bad at all while playing. With everyone talking and any background noise pretty much covers it up.

Why are we trying to reduce noise of the DM1? I’ve never heard of anyone complain that it was loud before lol

When you drop it in a table, it's pretty quiet. When you drop it in a wooden echo chamber, not so much. But the foam is cheap, so why not? And I was already doing a bit of work, so gluing 6 pieces of soundproof foam into the compartment was nothing... 5 extra minutes of work. Overkill? Maybe, but doesn't hurt anything.

I used my ShuffleMaster at least 3 times standing by itself then several times inside a cart. I couldn't discern any difference in dB.

I thought about using some soundproof panels/foam vs acoustical foam like pictured. The sound really doesn't bother me though so I guess I'll just wait until someone experiments with the more expensive stuff and has positive results

Hey guys, great thread here. Recently got a DM1 which works almost flawlessly except for one small but frustrating issue.

The shuffler will occasionally abort its shuffle, open the door and eject whatever cards its shuffled so far, then perform an auto setup once the deck has been placed back into the feeder side of the machine. Sometimes this setup will abort with just one card being moved over to the shuffled side, though this is very rare.

This issue is very intermittent and difficult to predict or replicate. Though its frustrating when it happens during a game.

The machine is getting around 40 hours a week of use currently.

If you guys dont hear from me again it's because I'm not allowed to use power tools and really messed up.... even as a kid i could never color within the lines. View attachment 1549507

I'd probably find a way to cut my arm off with a plunge router. Just give me a hammer and chisel and body armour.

I got half way you have to go real slow with the router and take off small chunks at a time. I'm kitted up with a full face mask and ear protection. I will have to finish the rest tomorrow I had to leave for work. Had a couple scary moments with the router kicking up but not to far off. We will see when the deckmate is in.

Since you mention this, here's a tip: If the straight edge is to the left of the router, push the router away from you. If on the right, pull the router towards you. Since you're working around the outside perimeter of a rectangle, go in a counter-clockwise direction.

It's likely kicking up because you're doing a climb cut (going the opposite direction). Hope that helps reduce any kicking up.

Well sort of went okay, you can see where I lost a little bit of control.

It still sits fine in there.

But then I laid the blade down on the felt while it was hot and it marked the felt. This was my least favorite felt so I was going to change it out eventually. I might have to host a couple games on this felt as test runs before getting another felt.

Hey guys, does anyone have the bridge size adaptors available or know of a good alternative? I much prefer bridge size cards but don't have any with my machine. Thanks.
Might be someone here who is completely against playing bridge cards
