Your thoughts in this please.
I was playing A tournament at Bally's. I had seat number 9, right from the dealer.
I was in the big blind and just won a hand. I was busy with my chips i won.
There was no action, when it came to the SB, he just called. Before i could do anything, the dealer took my cards and mucked them.
So i said, "what are you doing?!"
And he said, you mucked.... i told him i did not even looked at my hand. But he was like. "I gave tou cards, you put them in the muck so your hand is dead. It is your responsibility to protect your hand"

Duhhh!!! But not before i looked at them!
I was pissed and my game went downhill from there.

Anybody ever had this? And should i ask for the Floor the next time? Imo it was to late. My hand was dead....

Dealers are fallible, its sucks but you let 1 hand that you didn't even see allow you to play bad?
I would be more upset at myself than the dealer.

Yes its happened to me, and I've mucked a few hands if the player is slow or didn't protect their hands.

Yeah agreed, the playing bad afterwards is an excuse, fix yo leaks.

Even if you're still raking a pot drag those cards closer to you. You're the BB, you've had the time to atleast protect your hand. Cheap lesson. But if you're the BB with no bet facing you, the dealer should never be mucking your cards.

I have had the dealer muck my hand even with it capped in the 1/9 seats. It is one the reasons I hate sitting in those seats. The other being you can’t see what is going on at the other side of the dealer.

Do your best to make sure you pull your hand in and cap it to reduce the risk of it happening again.

we were deep in the game. I had like 15 BB left. So losing my blind was not good there. And the fact that the dealer was being an smart ass did not help my game :)...but you are right....it is still MY game. Luckely i chopped a day later for a good cash...:)

If you won less than a 15BB pot you shouldn't have been too busy to cap your hand. Sucks, but its on you the dealer isn't wrong.

Yeah, when you’re in the 9 seat, it’s like your full time job to make sure the dealer doesn’t kill your hand.

Agree. Sucks but dealer isn't wrong. If a hand is being dealt, pause your chip stacking and protect your cards. The chips will be there when you get back.

If 8 person before you can take a look and fold or call their hands before you while you still stacking your below 15BB stacks.

It's on you, dealer is just trying to speed up the game. You are likely being slow prior to this hand and thus dealer does that.

There were 5 people left.

When I am in seats 1/9, I have never once had a dealer muck my cards when I intended to play. I have the tendency to pull them close to my chip stack once I know the hand will be played. I can easily see this being an issue if you have a massive pot that was just pushed to you and your cards are dealt behind the line by virtue of having so many chips in front of you unstacked. If the dealer is vigilant, they will not accidentally muck your cards. They will tell you to play your hand before continuing to fix your stack or ask if you folded since you are still cleaning up the massive pile in front. I can understand that since it is a tournament, they are prone to being more strict.

My biggest gripe about other casino dealers is that they are not paying attention. Many people go on auto-pilot from days of dealing and they don't focus enough on each player's actions. All of the times I have seen a floor get called over for a dispute, it was due to the fact that the dealer was not paying attention.

Its on you. Don't blame the dealer because you couldn't focus on the game!
