Hey all! I’ll admit I’m trying to get my posts up and be a more active member but still thought this was cool enough to share! Daniel Negreanu shared his chip collection on his Instagram story earlier today mentioning he was cleaning out his office and found these. Sort of a collection by accident I guess you’d say. You could still hear the excitement in his voice going down memory lane of old casinos that are now shut down including the brown chips from The Orleans in 1996. He referred to them as “mementos” and I just felt like he stumbled upon the reason so many of us are members for!

I was wondering if there are any famous professional players that have big collections and might even be members here. I’ve found we are a niche group of collectors and a lot of my buddies think I’m crazy for being so into it. I wonder how many professional players notice/appreciate nice chip sets. I have the feeling they don’t care about the difference between Paulsons or dice chips lol. More concerned with quantity than quality I’m sure!

I bet he would be amazed at the vast amount of information and topics covered here! Made me think of how some professional athletes are into trading card collecting and how that helps grow the hobby!

I think the look of the Lodge chips is a clear indication that neither of the owners has ever heard of us

We tried to get PokerfaceAsh to engage about a month and a half ago when she announced that she was looking at getting some custom chips made through Twitter. To my knowledge, she never checked us out.

My opinion is they probably only care about how much money they can win with the chips in front of them at any given moment. They could care less what they are or made of, just how to get more of them, which is probably the mindset to have when you're that successful.

This is years ago, obviously, but I know Barry Greenstein had some custom BCCs made. IIRC they were "marker" chips and not necessarily a playing set.
