So I just entered the hobby of poker chips recently and looked at threads here and read as people talked about their historic group buys and was wondering if someone could give me a quick summary of any current (in progress group buys) and any planned future ones.

I think some of the nicest chips come from group buys and I definitely don't want to miss out!

Sounds like someone should start the next one! Maybe a volume CPC order?

The biggest issue with group buys is coming up with a design that appeals to the masses. You can get too many cooks in the kitchen VERY quickly and things can get ugly. While input from the people buying the chips is important the most successful route has been "Here are the chips being offered, how many of each do you want?" Re: CPC volume, the 10k per chip was floated around - do we even know what the discount would be at those quantities? I have a hunch (hopefully I'm wrong) that it wouldn't be very substantial.

Just my 2¢ (from a veteran group buy organizer )

not a lot of group buy history on this site, but that will change

I'm still hoping I can design a set that everyone will like.

For instance, I have the following ideas:

1. Pictures of delicious pies my grandma used to make
2. Set of world's slimiest amphibians
3. Cutest girl next door set as seen through my cheap target binoculars
4. World Series of Coiled Poop on my Lawn
5. Sad Pouty Cats of the Internet
6. Walking Dead Tribute (Sexiest Decaying Zombies in Swimsuit Series)
7. Top Internet Meme Set
8. Safety Scissors from 2007
9. Another Set of Delicious Pies that Your Grandma used to make
10. Brazilian Puppies Playing Poker

Ok I actually have a real idea for a group buy.

Remember the SidePot Protege Chips?

I wonder how much it would be to rent or buy that inlay design and coloration to remake them at CPC?

Obviously wouldn't be on the cigar and snifter mold but could be close in look and feel?

Best bet to fire up a group buy that might get traction and save participants money is to work on a hotstamp for CPC. New molds cost, so splitting that over multiple participants would save everyone money, and anyone that ever felt remorse for missing the BCC botstamp project would likely jump right on board.

Please let's get this going! Maybe something simple? I love the look of the Wynn chips. A logo and a demolition. Maybe we could use the PCF logo.........

I've been turned away for clinical help multiple times....

So should we threw some designs up?

I guess getting people to agree on what they want first.

Also will accept any type of clinical help...
CPCs I would think would be the ideal but not the only way to go. Let's get one of those super talented inlay designers on it..

So... I'm always messing with the chip design app. (Always always) This is the final chip design I've come up with. I like pie! Its the design I would use if I got the money together for CPCs. (Not the inlay just the chip colors and spots) So hopefully people can put up their own ideas and we can get the ball rolling on a custom group buy. Is it futile? Maybe. It's gotta start somewhere..Take it easy on me I'm new to all this. I'm no designer just a chip fan. The inlay I made on a popular custom t-shirt website. Yes it's the back of a shirt.
