A heads up, I am new to group buys and not too familiar with the whole making process of chips. I have talked with the people at Chipco and they will allow us to use the Egyptian artwork. They have found the old file for it. They asked if we wanted the front and back design to be the same and I told them yes. They also asked if we wanted the white ring on the front and back and I told them yes. I asked if we could change the denominations and they said we can. The minimum quantity per denomination is 2,500. As long as we meant the minimum requirement of 2,500 per domination the price per chip will be $1.
I wanted to see if we would get enough people interested in buying these chips. I only play cash games so I would prefer to change the $5,000 & $1,000 chip to a smaller denomination like a $25 & $100 chip.
If we get enough interest and can reach the minimum order amount, I can do the collecting, paying, and reshipping progress if I need to. However, I would prefer someone who has experience to do it.

I’m a tourney guy and would love the higher demons, but open to whatever based on the group consensus.

Interested.
Would really love a Cali-esque set with the $5k purple used as a $20 and the color of the $500 chip used as the $100, but a cash set of Egyptians either way.

I hate to bring up ownership but I believe the Egyptian artwork is owned by Greg Cagle, former mod and owner of Chiptalk. I find it hard to believe that you could have these made without his permission. Just saying.

By no means am I trying to steal anyone’s artwork/design. I thought they were chipco designs. Is Greg Cagle on PCF? If not, is there a way to contact him?

I don’t believe he is and I do not know how to contact him. Someone else may.

I'm not really crazy about the idea of re-making another set. That's not really 'right' to those that own that set. I think tenpercenter (owner of Chiptalk) owned this design? I would think he would need to give permission for this. Same theme, but original art seems more ethical.

Though just was never much of a fan of this design. I'd rather see something else. Of course, I don't have to buy these.

I am working on some artwork projects with Greg ATM. I've let him know about this thread - he does not support free use of designs for a group by without written permission.

If you want to PM me I can share his direct email and you guys can discuss :)

Am happy to help with logistics/reaching out to make sure this is properly sanctioned. OP pls send me a PM if you would like me to share the workload.

Please do not print without Greg’s written permission. Anything other than that is a dirtbag solution.

Agree with this 100%. I have had people ask to use my Suicide King designs. I have refused most requests out of respect for other people that own those sets (TRK, BCC, ASM). Anytime I did let someone else use any of the designs, I also cleared with the J5 since he did the art for a few of them. Sending him some money was always part of the agreement.

I realize many see it as a gray area with Tina chips copying lots of designs. Though those are mostly casinos (and apparently nobody cares about them lol). When you get into copying someone's customs, that's more of an ethical dilemma and shouldn't be done unless everyone that owns that design is happy.

At one point, I was thinking of using some of the J5 art on some Tina chips. J5 objected to this, and I agreed with him since we're not 100% sure that 'Tina' won't start printing them by the thousands without my permission.

I do realize the OP didn't know that the art was not owned by the chip company. Though the chip company agreeing to do this is a bit disturbing.

I'm 100% down with trying to get permission to use the art, often times with an added fee, which is understandable. I would love to have a Chipco edition of these chips.

I just emailed Greg asking if we can use his artwork/design and how much it would cost. I will give y’all an update as soon as I hear back from him.

Sadly it doesn’t look like these chips will be reproduced anymore. Here is what Greg said:

“I appreciate you asking Will. But no I would not be able to approve that. They are a special set for me, my first big design. They are an heirloom for my firstborn.

I'm not sure they'll ever have commercial value again with Michael Patton gone, but I feel like I should preserve the commercial value for myself or the children if ever comes up again.”
