I’m looking for something to mill chips….
What are the benefits of this vs a normal drill press?
Shaped milling and different sizes of milling.

For example: if you wanted to mill shapes and put in shaped inlay labels OR the reason I bought it was because I wanted to hot stamp THC chips that needed to have some milling done that was somewhere around 15/16", which there isn't an existing bottom cleaning bit for!

Disadvantages include: you have to be a bit computer saavy or willing to learn about via YouTube how to work it.

I am really really bad at the computer like 2 SDs outside of normal for my age (34) and I was able to actually mill some chips which was a true miracle...so I think it's pretty easy to learn :)

Circular was about a minute per chip. Shaped milling is probably going to be 2-3x at least (never got around to milling shapes myself, but know it can be done in this machine).

How fast does it mill each chip?
Something you can adjust and control yourself. A lot of variables to account for when doing this. Shapes aren’t for the faint of heart. Some shapes are much easier than others. If you are the type that likes a project and to tinker than this would be good for you. If you are just looking for automated push button milling then you’ll probably be disappointed with cnc

Agree completely and just send off a message talking about this to an inquiry...I think this is a good project item not an efficiency make a business become a milling site vendor item.

I'm interested, but confused about the chip shown in the photos. That doesn't look like a successfully milled chip to me. It looks like a badly damaged chip. Am I not seeing what I think I see? There appear to be gouges into the hat & cane area and the depression in the center doesn't look even close to flat and smooth and ready for a label to be applied.

Hehe yes absolutely right. Definitely not a usable chip, more of a trial chip for different things. Just grabbed the one that was closest to show the clamp. Next time I go upstairs I'll find a good one :)

As you can see I did some circular milling. I was always trying to mill at 24mm which is larger than the normal milling we all usually do or have done for us. You can see I messed up the centering in the bottom one. The top one is alright. Ultimately I don't think THC chips are meaning to have milling that is larger than 7/8" sadly. Anyways, let me know if any more questions!
