Good idea. There is no rush. Give people time to get on board. Im surprised that the $5 plaque guys arent interested in the $20 as much. Will the $5s get used more in smaller games?

Don't forget there was Matsui $20 GB that some of them got in on, but at $20 a plaque for a $5 plaque there wasn't much interest in a Matsui $5 GB IIRC. I'll bet interest will pick up once the size and design are finalized...I would like to think the final numbers will be north of 300. However there are several other GB's going or ready to get going(Dunes, Borg knockoffs/possible, CPC Hot stamp, CPS 2nd GB) at this time and that may hold some up too.

Alright updated OP to reflect just the one size. Seemed like Irish was the only one thus far to show interest in the larger plaque. I appreciate everyone giving their feedback thus far.

Where we stand now: I have added a poll for a vote on the color of the edges. As a reminder, the $5 plaques group had decided to go with the black edge. We are definitely ready to submit artwork, I am just waiting for the AI file so I can send that over to MSK. From there I believe MSK can work in creating the prototypes and we can also finalize quantity.

I am not at all in any rush to close this down anytime soon, so if you are on the fence pending prototype pics, let me know. Once we get close enough, I will post paypal details to get payment ready for final production.

Thanks again to everyone thus far showing interest and providing any feedback towards this Group Buy. We are approaching the finish line (y) :thumbsup:

thanks to @p5woody, I got the ai files quicker than anticipated and sent them off to MSK. I let MSK know the only thing at this time that hasn't been finalized is quantity and edge color. I'm going to wait for them to respond and see if it would be possible to get a prototype with a blue edge color.

I forgot who had mentioned it, but I agree that if possible we should try and keep the edge color different than the black that was used for the $5 plaques. Any thoughts?

I'd recommend avoiding black (MSK $5 plaques) and white (Matsui $100 plaques). i think Red would send mixed signals (pretty ingrained as a $5 color), and blue may get confused with black in stacks. Yellow is probably best.

I'm a little biased to blue with it being my favorite color lol but you make a valid point and yellow makes sense to me as well. I'm honestly open to anything as long as it looks good and clashes well with the art like the $5 plaques did.

Update: I have gotten a response after sending the artwork. He advised he would be able to do 2 prototypes, but the 2nd one would come at a cost of $30. I definitely would like to stick to one prototype so I asked of they have samples with the different colored edges that we could possibly get pictures of to maybe help decide.

I see more ninja votes have come in and it seems green is in the lead. Thanks for all the votes, how do you guys feel about getting the green edge prototyped?

Another thing I would like to discuss that MSK mentioned is base color. Woody used gray as the base, I think it looks really nice, was wondering how you guys felt about it as well, we could always decide on a different base color as well if needed.

Last is shipping costs, final quote may need to be held off on for shipping as it may increase depending on quantity for the end.

I don't plan on purchasing any, but here's a photo that may help you decide on the color choices. From left to right: $5 Group Buy (MSK), $100 Group Buy (Matsui), $5 GB, Majestic White (MSK), $5 GB, MSK Sample Red, $5 GB, MSK Sample Green, $5 GB, MSK Sample Yellow, MSK Sample Black, MSK Sample Blue, MSK Sample Black.

My apologies for the flash reflection; I don't have what you might call camera skills. For that matter, I also lack touch up skills. In real life, the colors are not as bright as they appear under flash. From across the table, the white and yellow are most distinguishable from the black. The white is also easily distinguishable from the Matsui plaque. Funny enough, it is more easily distinguishable than the black $5 GB plaques are. The red is easy enough to distinguish as well, and the green and blue are each barely distinguishable. In average room lighting, dirty stacks with blue or green would be extremely hard to notice. With a reasonably bright flashlight shined on them, the blue is actually more distinguishable than the green. For what it's worth, I have fairly good color vision, but I imagine the results could vary significantly for those who are color vision deficient. I would be happy to take additional pictures if they would come in handy for design purposes. Hope this helps!

Oh yeah, one more thought. MSK material has had some references to another configuration. If you can see in the picture, the "insides" are basically made up of five layers, for example white, green, green, green, white. The alternate configuration I've seen referenced would go white, green, white, green, white. I have no idea if they actually offer this configuration, as I haven't seen any plaques with it, but if it's available it could help to brighten up the blue and green. Good luck!

Yo! Those pics really help a lot for comparison. MSK did respond with some pics as well which hopefully will help finalize edge color. Thinking more and more about the color, I am thinking green may actually go well with the artwork, not entirely sure until I see prototypes but I want to prototype the color that the majority of you decide on ( which ATM is green). Here are the pics provided by MSK with different color bases as well. After further review, I definitely feel for our color scheme it's a toss up between yellow and green. Blue looks as if it may be a little too bright of a blue for the gray/black product. If it was a darker blue, maybe...





Let me know what you guys think. No rush at all, I am more concerned with making the best decision than getting the product at this point (ok ok, i want the product asap, but still heh)

After seeing the side by side comparison photo Split posted, I changed my vote from white to green. Also +1 to the gray base. Would be curious to see what it would look like if a just a twinge of green were added to the gray....

I'm not in this race but if I may...
For those of you using the acrylic chip carriers...if you flip another rack onto your top rack upside down it is possible to stack up to 199.5mm x 66mm plaques easily. Meaning that in theory you could store 88x57mm plaques and 94x66mm plaques end to end and still have room for a dealer button or two separating them..

so what I had done was give my best attempt at photoshopping these for mockups to maybe help with a final prototype decision since yellow and green seem to be the top 2 choices. One of the sample plaques has a gray-ish base color and if we were to stick with that option of gray, let me know what you guys think of these..

for me after seeing these, it's a tough mixup, but if i had to choose. I would probably go with the green edge

My opinion doesn't make much difference but yellow seems logical. As long as it's not white or black almost anything else should work as the $100's are white and the MSK $5's are black. I don't have and can't recall what edge the Matsui $20's are but think they are the same white edge but different top color.

It looks like green edge color takes majority vote but I would like to get more feedback from others that have voted before I let MSK know that they can go ahead and make the prototype with the green edge using the artwork we sent. Seems like a fair amount of people are waiting for prototypes, but I don't want to rush or assume anything lol

"As long as it's not white or black" was the main objective. Green is fine by me. Yellow just makes most sense to me as it follows tradition chip color, except for the Cali views. Green works as money is "greenish" now.
