What was your first chipping love? Which set hooked you into PCF?

My first chipping love was the beautiful Paulson Pharaohs started from my brutha @Changster. I've been hooked ever since..
I have since sold the set, but it still holds a special place in my heart and chipping journey.

Came for the Dunes China Clay's, stayed for the Paulsons! I still really like the CCs despite the general sentiment towards them here, but I wasn't completely hooked until I saw/handled my first leaded THCs though, being Claim Stake $5s.

I'll be moving on to CPCs once if I finish up my current project/set.

What led me first to CPC and then to PCF was the curiosity about the possibilty of dice chips being customised. :D
Feel and sound didn't matter back then, let alone I was clueless; hell, even today I 'm more of a visual chipper.
I just sold a set of the best-sounding and -feeling chips, a set of leaded Paulson THCs, in order to make just another custom CPC set (HHR, hot-stamped).

The blue Paulson Pharaoh, either as NCV or quarter was one of the chips that I fell in love with.
These, too, were sold.

I came to PCF in 2015 to research buying Paulsons. I remember I was toying with the idea of purchasing a set way back when, when I was in high school in 2006-7 or so, but it was too expensive for me at the time. Ordered some samples though after reading a bit on the blue wall, but never took the leap and instead a friend of mine bought some early china clay(?) wannabe paulson classics. Came back years later in 2015 to find that paulson chips were no longer available to the public which was sad, but there were other options on here and I soon bought a pretty cheap used primary GV set. I was pretty quickly hooked to PCF and the PCA $25 was one of my first real PCF loves. It took me a few years (and several lesser sets) before I actually took the leap to buying them, but they were always one of my favorite chips!

Kicked the Cactus Pete's $.50 THCs out a while back and replaced them with the Club Regent fracs

I know.. I know (2) orange chips in the same set... but RHC fracs are very scarce and I don't plan to play the $3 in a cash set with the $2s at the same time anyways. It works... for now!

Anyways that's my first Real chip Love! Even though 05 CDIs brought me to the site... I thought they were unatanible at the time... who would pay $3 plus a piece for poker chips... ahh the good ole days! Lol

I owned one BJ V7 and didn't know anything about it, except for that I liked the sound it made. Posted on Reddit and a very helpful @navels answered the call and suggested I check out the site. Turns out that was a pretty lucky day for me.

I showed up a week after Jim’s first HSI sale to scrape together a budget set and I stayed on PCF after seeing @horseshoez’s flamingo set

Palm Gaming’s last sale on Chiptalk, for custom-labeled Milano’s. I thought those were hot stuff. (Fun fact: a year or two ago I ordered more labels from ABC and Gene was able to pull up my original files I’d sent to Palm like eight years before. Gene must have some incredible organizational skills!)

That was followed by a sale on incredibly beat Grand Vic primaries for a friend… I assume that must have been one of Jim’s sales? Not sure, but I DO remember they were $0.19 / chip.

And of course that kind of silliness inevitably eventually led to PCF.

This is actually only the first part of the story. After that, I came to the site, and I thought you were all crazy. I still think that, but I get it more now. What really made me stay was finding custom sets. I was so stunned by the creativity and I knew I wanted to do what others had done. The Colony Club set in particular is incredible. It's my favorite custom set. Honorable mention to the Suicide Queen cash set and the Bicycle Shacks.

my favorite's are the Stallion Springs and Royal flush sets from California. When I find

a color printer I'll post a few pictures. They show a nice royal flush & Stallion.l

I was right there with you Pat. We bought and sold a ton of the GV’s and then I found what changed my whole collection to Nevada chips.

which turned into a much larger set. which now includes two racks of fracs.

then I became obsessed with these

and now I am not sure of everything I have although most of it can be seen in my gallery.

Always loved the Aces!

First saw these back on eBay, back when the original seller was still offering them. Loved them but thought they were expensive (at the time), and didn’t think I could get a breakdown that worked for me (I was looking for a tourney set with high denominations)
Bought another set, but couldn’t get these outta my head. Bought a couple racks, then a couple more. Finally, the search to fill out the set brought me to the old blue wall (and eventually many more PNYs found their way into my set). That was over 13 years ago, and the set building and singles collecting hasn’t stopped since!!
