I can't be the only one who likes to give out lots of $1's with rebuys, can I?

I think 170 ones on the table to start the night is a lot? Sometimes I will go 20 x 1 and 16 x 5 for the first rebuy.

I like lots of 1's too. I usually try to get all 300 out for 2 tables, or at least 200 out for 1 table. This is the same for .25/.50 or .50/1

Now that I think about it. When I use the sunsets I probably get closer to 250 x 1 on the table. That's because its my favorite chip, and I have more of them. My other sets are built with 200 x 1 for budgetary reasons.

Big load of small denoms, huge stacks with 10 or less players and still decent numbers at the max of 20 players?

My typical set is roughly 1000 chips with the following breakdown:

200 x frac
300 x $1
400 x $5
80 x $2x ($20 or $25)
20 x $100

This can handle 2 tables comfortably, with a rack of frac and 150 $1 per table. I'll buy in the first 5 players at each table with a barrel of frac and a barrel of $1's. once the frac is gone, a barrel of $1's and topping with $5's. next, all $5's and then the $2x.

While I'm not in MA, the most I've ever had in play was 200 frac, 300 $1, 500 $5, 45 $25 and 5 $100

In a 25c/50c or 50c/$1 game I will usually give the first and second rebuy $1's since the initial starting stacks were less than 20 $1's per player. With the extra $1's from the these rebuys it will get the average above 20 per player.

In a $1/1 or above game, no I won't give any extra $1's and may even buy some back later in the night when we get short handed if they are slowing down the game and it helps speed up cashing players out when the game does end.

Thanks you everyone for the detailed input. It has been very helpful. I wish budget wasn't a concern but unfortunately it is. I've decided to start out small as I don't expect my games to run big anyway and add on later if needed. I'm mostly settled at 100-140/200/200/40/0-20. Definitely going to go with quarters as fracs.
Now to try and find something in the budget.

I normally only run tournaments so the suggestion of running some cash games with "lesser" chips to see what my needs are isn't a bad idea either. My spouse is especially a fan of this advice. lol Depending on how long it takes me to find a set that fits my needs I might give this a try.

For our $.25-$.50/.50-$1.00 cash games we use my 500 set of Milanos(which are a good budget chip at $.32 per chip) with a breakdown of 150/150/200($1,187.50 bank). This has worked for us many years now. I also have a tourney set of 500 Milanos with $25's, and $100's, $500's, $1,000's but have never had to tap into that for our cash game. If you wanted to add another rack of $5's or barrel of $25's if you feel like ya'll will throw around more money than us(we throw around a lot of money IMHO). Largest stack I've had(pictured below) is a little over $500 at the last poker game we had a few Fridays ago which was $.25-$.50 our normal game.
