Chanman's projects (3 Viewers)

Oh they changed it to free... they texted me asking for $2 per chair last week. Ugh, I have so many casino chairs already though, I had 70 at one point and am down to 25 of them. I don't really have the space to store so many but it's hard to turn down free casino chairs. The only bad thing is that they're bar height.
gotcha. free is hard to pass up but I hear you...

Cut the legs down?

Probably more work than it's worth, but not definitely. I think I'll pick up one to see if I can do that without a ton of labor, and find some way to protect the bottoms so that there isn't sharp metal on the floor. Might have to buy some leg caps in bulk.

Just use a tubing cutter. I do this with folding legs to get the table height to 29”.

That's what I was thinking at first, but 2 of the legs are double pipes. I'd have to use some sort of chop saw with a composite blade or a manual grinder.

So sad when shippers are so careless... The shipping company was nice enough to drive their forklift through the crate and in turn through the playing surface cloth and foam :(

Replacement table finished. Threw in the cup holders after taking this pic then crated it up and out the door.

Working on a genuine leather rail. This rail's an 8'er so the leather's not big enough to do as 1 piece. I have to trace out the rail, cut it up and stitch it together. It's always a bit tricky to figure out what's the best orientation before making the cuts. This is the backside of the leather if anyone wasn't sure. The other side is a dark brown.

Do you lay out pre-cut rails for a project like that, or hand measure/calculate everything? I'm thinking a projector and computer, but that would just be my way to interject tech into a job that doesn't need it.

I had the rail that's going to go with the leather cut out first, then traced it so that there's no room for error. I don't carry any templates, almost every table is a different size so to make sure it's going to be a proper fit I just did it the old fashioned way.

I remember builders on Scott Keen saying how difficult working with leather is since it is very hard to stretch. Congrats on figuring it out!

Yeah it's not the easiest material to work with but leather is so much nicer compared to vinyl.

That room looks dope, prob the best man cave I've ever seen

Thx. My cave is tiny now. The kids have taken over most of the room. Check out @MaxB 's game room. It's pretty amazing.

For my rentals, I decided to make a large flip chart for the blind levels. All night long everyone's asking what the levels are so I made these 24"x36" posters which sit on an easel at one end of the room. The computer screen's just too small to see from any distance.

It's my new favorite font :)

T_Chan= sorry it’s kinda off topic. I building 3 tables and looking everywhere for an aluminum/SS trim that I see you use on some of your tables (under rails, inside and outside). I know you probably don’t want to give out a lot of your info but where could I find it. I’ve looked everywhere online and having a hard time. Thanks

Alternate idea: alluringly-clad women walking around holding big signs. Hey, it works for boxing!

Why not just get a durable 30-40" LCD? Seems like it would be well worth the hassle of having to flip the board and you could even add $15 in rental fees for it.

The main reason I don't do that is because of space. The trailer I use is almost at capacity with the poker tables and chips crammed into it. I wouldn't have the room for a TV and a stand to get it high and visible to the room. The easel I'm using right now is just a tripod which folds down and the flipchart is very thin so it doesn't take any space.

I'm debating getting a loud speaker for the rentals as well so that I'm not yelling all night but again, space problems. Might be time for a bigger trailer soon.
