Hey Fellow Enthusiasts.

I’m bored and back to important stuff since the Chip Hostage situation thread has closed. So bummed…

Anyways, I recently got a cloth sample from @T_Chan and so far I'm down.

I’ve seen countless examples of the custom design and know he’d kill it.

Here’s my questions. How does it play? How does it hold up over time? Any specific issues with cleaning it?

I’m playing speed cloth from Casino Supply (see pic). It has a real non-traditional feel to say the suited speed cloths many of us grew up on or play currently. Almost a, super weird, wallpaper feel to it. It’s held up well (120 sessions) but it might be time. My biggest gripe is when dragging a pot whatever you leave marks on the table. I wipe the table before each season with a damp cloth and poof, they’re gone. Also, being somewhat of a micro fiber there are a few spots that have shown that they’ve really taken on particles, oils and whatever (don’t go there) from players hands…

So the previous questions and; Does Tony’s fabric “pill?” I would assume not. It’s very low profile. Those of you playing it, do you have 100 or more sessions on it?

Let ‘er rip.

Sounds like you could be using that cheap import/knockoff speedcloth. I’ve had both and I didn’t care for the stiff cheap stuff.

I can’t speak to Tony’s cloths, but I’ve followed along for years, waiting to order one. So just keep in mind that he’s on at least this third different fabric, so some people might give you a review of an older, unavailable fabric. And also, some of his fabrics have had two different, printable sides.

I’ll be watching the reviews too, because one of these days I’ll pull the trigger!

I have had 3 Chanman felts on my tables. All great. My latest is the felt side of Tony’s most recent fabric (not the speed felt side). It’s awesome. Cards slide nicely and enough friction so the dealer can slide the flop. Fabric is holding up nicely. @T_Chan I am sure others can provide more feedback. But I am a fan.

Any idea ( @T_Chan ) why the change in fabrics? I’m inclined to just start the process with him. We get one sometimes two sessions a week (normalish wear for us degens) so I’m actually not terribly worried.

Hold the show…

It’s reversible? That would be awesome. I did like the non felt side.

That table I posted is @Goldfish old table. The new felt I got is called gaming suede but it feels really nice.

@T_Chan can chime in with way more info, but my understanding is he had to change felts because of supply issue (discontinued?). With the new fabric the speed felt side is very slippery and does not have enough friction to slide the cards out on a flop. For some folks that’s not an issue. The reverse side is more plush allowing more friction. The cards pitch much slower though. I have not found that to be a problem but I typically have a dedicated dealer. I think the cards slide fine. I also saw in past posts that Tony can print your fabric on both sides so you can decide which side you want to go with.

That’s a lot of good info there my friend. I think do prefer the slick side. We have a dedicated dealer and the flop comes off one at a time.

Now I’m getting excited.

It’s no “Where’s muh chips, where’s muh money” excited but I’m excited.

So the reason for the multiple cloth changes over the years was supply problems. Each time I thought I found the best cloth to use, after a few rolls then they would tell me it was discontinued. Each time though, I thoroughly test the available fabrics to see which one is best before picking a new one.

The latest iteration is a pretty good one. Although I think that the older "Casino Grade" is my personal favorite, the current "Professional Grade" is a close second. All versions that we've had were printable on either side as they all had a smooth side and a fleece side.

The smooth side has a very, very slick surface on it. Cards slide from anywhere on the table very well. It's so slick though, that if you cannot fan cards. So if you're dealing the flop, deal 3 cards face down, then flip them all at once to fan them out then they won't spread out. They'll all just slide across the table as a clump of 3 cards.

The fleece side is as you would think, a bit more fuzzy. Neither sides will pile. On the fleece side, cards will fan out without any problems. Pitching cards is a little harder though so if your game is self dealt, then I don't recommend it. Decent dealers will be able to pitch cards from one end to the other, but in a self dealt game, there's not usually a table full of great card throwers. It's more than smooth enough for someone sitting in the middle of the table to pitch cards to anyone at the table.

The print resolution is great, a little better on the smooth side because it's flatter.

They clean up really well, just some water and dish soap. Stubborn stains can be removed with a upholstery cleaner.

The fabric has very little stretch to it which makes installation easy. Tack down one side of the felt, pull the other side taught, put in another staple or two, then staple along the long side and then go to the other side pulling taught again and put in the rest of the staples. Measure along the way to make sure you're still centered.

I haven’t had a chance to play on a Chan table, but his printing looks to be some of the best. My GG table w the premium plush felt feels fantastic but the colors don’t print as well. Specifically black.

I can confirm this, I have a new chanman cloth and the first time I tried I "fanned" the flop all the way across the table, with zero fanning lol. It takes some getting used to, but with the right kind of pressure you can get it to work. It's a great material

Superb print quality as well!

Being able to fan the cards can also be dependent on the cards you use. On my Chanman cloth Desjgn cards don't fan but ordinary Modiano cards do.

How far they slide is also different, Modianos fly whereas you have to give Desjgn a bit of extra oomph when dealing from the ends which has resulted in a few flipped cards now and then.

I believe your cloth is the Casino grade version, which is no longer available.

I love mine. The design process was easy and I’m happy with the end product. Card slide like they’re on ice. Mine is the professional grade so the cards don’t fan well. When needed, I’ll order another one. Hopefully the casino grade, or equivalent, will be available by then.

I’m on my 2nd Chanman felt. As everyone else has said, it’s an awesome surface. Both were printed on the smooth side, and both allow the cards to slide easily from anywhere on the table. I also believe my 1st felt was casino grade and 2nd is professional grade.

What I love most is the print quality, followed by the ease of cleaning spills. I’ve had more than a fair share of players spilling drinks and apologizing profusely that they stained such a nice felt just for me to easily clean the spill like it didn’t even happen. I think i’ve only ever used something stronger than soap and water once.

I'd love to see a video of how cards slide on either of the side options.

Looks like I'll be building two or three matching tables in the next 12 months. Would like to see how each side of the cloth performs. Make sure I make an informed choice.

Excellent quality by Tony! This is an amateur-built table with folding legs, having used his top-notch felt.
Edit: nicely slippery too, for cards.
I only wish I lived for a short while on his side of the Pond. :)
