Casino de Isthmus CDI98 Journey (1 Viewer)

My absolute pride and joy of my chipping adventures! My most favorite set.

I watched Bond films my whole life with my Grandpa. I wanted these way back in high school.

I finally have them and they will never leave my possession.

From where did you get the game card? Does it have the game rules on the other side?

Probably not. A user here makes them and my mind is blanking. Username begins with an A.

Factoid 3:

The $25s tend to have a very consistent dark green base color. It will get chalky looking but, after a good oiling, tends to recover well. The pale green edge spot can have inconsistent hues, however. These chips have been spotted with three different inlays, the common round inlay, the rarer star inlay:

and the rarest of all, the hub inlay that got away:

Factoid 4:

The $100 comes in a round and cog inlay. The arc yellow edge spots can vary from a duller arc color to a very bright one. Some crazy CDI ‘98 collector (not me) actually parsed through thousands of those to have a full bright arc edge spot chip in their set.

There are also versions of the $100 made for a private order which have 4 edge spots on them. They are difficult to find.

The $500 chip comes in round and shaped inlays as well. The base shade can vary from a deep purple to a lighter shade.

Thanks for a fantastic journey… I’ve only been into chipping for 4 or 5 years, but the CDI’s have always been a favorite though I’ve never owned one.
Something about them just seems “classic” and right!… just like how Sean Connery and Ursula Andress set the standard as James Bond and Honey Ryder.

Factoid 5:

The $1k’s are the highest denomination made for the set. The mustard base works well with the hot pink and forest green edge spots. For the longest time the 39mm version was thought to be a singular chip with no known variations until May 2023 when a small cache of 80 IHCs were found and unveiled on PCF.

More recently another custom made set was listed on FB marketplace which contained another 20 IHC 1ks (perhaps the missing 20-assuming a full rack was made- from the earlier discovered cache?) along with custom blaze based $10s and a never before seen IHC $5K chip sharing the same color pattern as the 39mm frac in this set.

Very nice read and a fantastic looking set! I'll probably never shell out for chips fancier than CPCs but I enjoy seeing other people's journeys.

Factoid 6:

The 50 cent frac of the set shares its color scheme with several other Paulson fantasy chips. These tend to be heavy chips (10g).

No real deviations of this one are known although there has been at least one edge spot error chip a keen eyed CDI collector discovered in his set.

Congratulations on cracking the code for the 007 Giveaway. As you obviously know, the 7th Spoiler in the OP contained instructions for entering the 007 Giveaway and you all made it in time. We have 22 contestants identified below. If you are not on the list and believe I missed a qualifying entry made on or before 12/15/25, please let me know what number post you believe qualifies.

This week is pretty busy but I will put something fun together for the determination of the winner soon. Congrats again and good luck to you all!

LET'S GO!!!

$1 Fact

I’ve came across only one that had an arc yellow edge spot instead of the traditional canary

Finally was able to add one of these error and/or custom shaped inlay $100s to my collection. This differs from the standard $100 due to the extra edge spots on the chip. Normal chips have a 3TA316 edge spot breakdown as opposed to this 4TA316 edge spot chip (and the arc spot is eye searing on these as well)

The $10, $50, $100, and the green, blue, and yellow NCV movie prop CDI chips also made an appearance in Goldeneye during a baccarat scene between Brosnan and Janssen where Bond takes down Xenia without breaking a sweat.

Photos of table showing stacks:

Best table shot where you can barely make out the red inlays on the denominated $50 and $100s and the black labels on the non-denoms:

Photo gets blurry when zoomed but you can tell those are the CDI prop chips making another screen appearance in a Bond movie!
