I’m brand new here, I hope someone can answer a few basic questions for me. I have casino de isthmus chips but most have a round inlay in the middle and some have a pointed ”star inlay” (sorry not sure the real terminology is). Is there any difference between the two? I purchased them all from Paulson direct many years ago so I know they are authentic, just not sure why some are different.

thank you in advance

The shaped (non-round) inlays are universally called “shaped inlays”. Paulson made both shaped and round inlay sets. The shaped inlay sets are marginally more valuable and desirable.

Welcome to PCF. I assume you roll bones based on your user name?
Thank you, yes you are correct I do love to roll. ( along with black hack as well) That being said when I had to come up with a user name I really felt a lot of pressure (joke). I figured instead of trying to pick a name and then be told it’s already taken, a craps themed name would probably have a better shot. From reading these forums a few times over the years it sounds like majority of people are either collectors or poker players.

Post a picture or two and we'll be able to tell you definitively. But yes, non-round inlay denominations are worth a pretty penny. The original shaped options available were:
$5 hub
$25 scallop
$100 cog
$500 hexagon
Thank you for your reply. I believe from reading the forums they are 98cdi chips.

You are right there are both collectors and players on here but I'd say the majority of folks skew towards people who use their chips in games. I know any chip I buy is destined to hit the felt at some point.

There are also a few people who play craps here and build sets to use in their home craps games.

Thank you for the help. The majority of them I have are round but I do have some and always thought they looked out of place. Now I know.

Here are some pictures a few people wanted to see of the chips I pulled out so far. Only 88 $25.00 chips with the star shape inlay and 20 of the $100 chips with the gear inlay. I have more chips to still pull out so I’ll look for the different shapes in those as well

Great set of chips! And congrats on the shaped inlays! My CDI is around 2300 chips with adding a .25, 5K and 25K chips, murdered Casino de Mexico chips. Are any of you $5s the hub shaped inlay? Would love to get one of those! I have a few shaped $25 and $500s and 1 shaped $100. Of course if you ever want to pair down the set, there would plenty of takers including me.

Well, 5000+ chips might just blow my collection away. Although I think I'm pretty close in total count. The problem is that quite a few racks in my collection are semi-custom/murdered chips, such as my cash 0.05 and 0.25, and my tournament 5000 and 25000. Once I get my chips that are stuck in Limbo, I should be able to run a 7 table tournament. Just on the lookout to round out my cash.

I think your Inbox just exploded. Thirty times. And I'm guilty.

And since we're posting pr0n showcase photos, here's a very incomplete one of mine

Congrats, That’s a cool set. The solid color chips are you using for roulette?

Thank you, the only shipped inlays I have are about 80 $25 chips and 20 $100 chips. When I got my chips from Paulson 20 plus years ago I would go through the boxes in front of them to make sure there were no shipped inlays. To me they always looked weird and stuck out. Who new they would be worth something someday

Yessiree. Plan was to introduce them to play in my charity fundraising night coming up next week, but we're going to defer them to the next event (though they will still be on display). Blackjack rules the house for this one.

You guys have them all !!!!!!

This is where I’m at on my CDI
Making lables for the 5k-25k
Just have to decide what looks better for a 5k
Pink or blue grey gold
Anyhow beautiful chips everyone!!

I would consider using the blue/gold as $1k chips (you have the perfect amount) and the pink as $5k chips for now.

When you murder and relabel, it’s super easy to change out labels.

Your 1K quest could take a long time.

Holy mother of god!

Right?!? @hornhighyo hooked it up to this community and sold a bunch of those to us. Did myself and many of us a huge favor.
