All I'm saying is that I actually liked this set and got it to enjoy it, have moved on and want something else. lmao like come on man, what wouldn't of started all of this? Like at what price would of been acceptable to not get hate? Would it be the same price I got it for? Genuinely asking.

I cruise the new introductions and see who’s looking for a set. You sell to them for $1100–$1200. No one cares. You get pats on the back and people will return the karma to you in the future.

I’ve given away free chips and whole sets to people just bc it’s good for the community. I sell chips sometimes I make a little, most times I lose a little. It’s all sunk cost for the hobby.

But because many of us know each other from either meetups or from 20 years of chipping, we like to protect our own. So when new guys come in and flip for profit, it gets put on everyone’s radar. Some people here are just known as flippers. They don’t get as much action and often times get blacklisted from sales or deals. (I think Krish coined “asshat clause” which you’ll see on some listings.

We value those who we believe will be a benefit to the community. But we will always give a hard time to those who seem to take advantage of the community.

Like we said. They’re your chips and you can do what you want with them. Sell them on eBay for even more. Just some of us probably aren’t going to give the same attention to your postings and listing.

Given terms like “supply and demand” and “market price” in this thread

300$ inflation adjusted for 2005 is approx $340.24 + shipping was include - so maybe a a $40 profit?

…just sayin

Answering genuinely (I’m a newbie and have very little cred here so take this as such)

Be more transparent.

Share approximately when and what you paid, share how the set changed, share their use and work you put into them, share what you think they’re now worth and what you want for them. And ya, share your intentions with original seller before you post if things are a little convoluted. I think it’s more a community than a market place.

Yes, the price you got them for.

The vast majority of us are happy to breakeven. In a lot of cases, that means we got to play with a set for free and can pass it on to someone who might enjoy them more. The other way to view it is as renting the set, if you end up selling at a loss.

You’re not wrong that the market value is higher than what you got it for. You’re wrong for trying to milk the community that gave it to you. You can be a chipper or a flipper but not both.
