Alright I know this a popular subject on here, but I am struggling trying to figure out a cash game set breakdown. Im looking at anywhere from 600 to 900 chips. Going from .25 up to $20. Blinds .25/.25 up to $1/$1 maybe even $1/$2. Most of the games will be .25/.25 or .25/.50
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

I would do
. 25. 120 equals $30
1. 200 equals $200
5. 200.equals $1000
20/25. 80. Equals either 1600 or 2000

And base it on your group and how much money is on the table
When I ordered mine I went
.25
.50
1
5
10

You might not need the $100s, but some like a "capstone" denom. One rack of $20/25 may be sufficient.

If you prefer tons of chips on the table, you could consider 160-200 quarters, but this is not necessary. Just calculate your bank needs and go from there.

Unless you really think you will be hosting 1-1 or 1-2 in the near future, I would start with a breakdown of 100/300/180/20 of 0.25/1/5/20 for 600 chips.

Initial Bank of 1625 (or 1725 if you do 25s instead of 20s)

This covers. 32 buys ins of 50 which should always cover one table 0.25-0.50. If you are planning deeper buy ins maybe add a rack of fives. Otherwise, fives are really only a value store chip in 0.25-0.25 and they get a little more play in 0.25-0.50 on later wagers.

If you want to accomodate 1-1 or 1-2. I would grow the set to at least 800 doing 100/300/300/80/20 of 0.25/1/5/25/100

I didn't read the other posts. How many players?

One table, 600 chips is plenty

100 x .25
200 x 1
200 x 5
80 x 25
20 x 100

If your going to be playing a bunch of 1/2, then I would go with 300 or 400 x 5

It will be anywhere from 8 to 10 players and a buying of $50 to $100 depending on blinds.

The thing i can't come to grips with is the frac situation, why only 100 .25 chips? Seems like you would want enough to rebuy? With only 100 how do you do your starting stack for a $50 buying? Maybe I'm starting realize i like more chips in front me when starting.... I dont know.

Since the quarters are just the blind chips, you’ll hardly need any except for blinds, and the occasional limper. Most opens will probably be $2, and the quarters will rarely be used after the flop. 100 is usually plenty for a table. (The only exception being a really limpy, passive table. Then you may want more quarters.)

In a .25/.25 game with lots of limping or raises to .75, it might help to have more, but in a .25/.50 game you would almost always rather have more dollars. For starting stacks, give the first five people to sit down a barrel of quarters, everyone else makes change.

Also, how a lot of people do cash buy-ins, would be as follows:

$50 buy-in, first five players get:
.25 x 20
$1 x 20
$5 x 5 (15 for $100 buy-in)

Subsequent buy-ins get :
$1 x 20
$5 x 6 (or 16)

And make change at the table for quarters. Rebuys are done in ones and fives till all the ones are on the table, then move up to 5’s, then 25’s for late rebuys.

Why did you choose $10 over $20 chip?

2 reasons

1. we rarely get over @k in the bank and the guys like lots of chips, what is the use of having a chip that will not get used

2. I didn't design one yet in my custom set, I may break down and create a 20 chip, but you can also if you are playing a higher stacks game use the quarters as 25 dollar chips

so it all comes down to how your game rolls money wise
What you want, as you can see here already you have multiple answers and they all work, they all work for that host

I would seriously look at your game and see what ends up in the bank on average and start from there on your decision of how many you need, you already admitted you like a lot of chips in front of you, so start there

People fight the quarters battle here a lot it seems. Try 100. If you find it’s not working for you, add another 100! Just my view!!

Does it get hard after a while making change?

You playing single table or multiple tables?

If I sit late with just fives, I’ll ask for a barrel of ones from a big stack, then I’ll change two ones for 8 quarters. Easy peasy.
Exactly what we do...seems so easy and it really is!!

So what would everyone say about this breakdown for 600 chips

.25- 200
$1- 200
$5- 200

This is reasonable. For a $50 buy-in, everybody gets 20x $0.25, 20x $1, and 5x $5. Rebuys are done with with 10x $5 or what-have-you, or use up the remaining fracs and dollars if you want as many chips on the table as possible (encourages action). As long as your bank needs do not exceed $1250, then you're good to go.

PM me if you're interested in a set with this exact breakdown.

Single table 8 to 10 players
My break down is
140-.25¢
180-$1
60-$5
20-oversized $20

small 400 set but we are just there for a good time usually start with
20/20/5 stacks buy in for $50 rebuy the $20 chips come into play and are swapped with the big stack for change
