Can't find Magnate 2712 in Canada (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I'm about to start my milling journey, but can't find a Magnate 2712 surface planing bit on any website in Canada.
Or even other brands.

Is it possible there are alternate names for this type of bit, and I should be searching for those names instead?

I find it odd that specialised router bit sites would have zero search results for both "surface planing" and "bottom cleaning".

You can't buy it on Amazon? That and Walmart are where I've gotten all of my bits.

I recommend Magnate because I have one and it’s great and the shop is well respected but I also have the two other common brands sold on Amazon Uxcell and Yonico and have milled racks with both and both are fine. Try Uxcell if you can’t find Magnate.

I would also recommend the Magnate brand if you can find it. Flattest bit I have found. The Uxcell bit I bought 3 years ago was a bit too concave, leaving the chip surface a bit too convex for my liking. I'll see if I can find a link for you.

I see you guys have milled a bunch of chips. How has the cutting edge of the bit been holding up? Have you had to sharpen it yet?

You shouldn't ever need to sharpen it. It should be fine for a long while, as long as you don't damage the edge.

Magnate on Amazon Canada comes up as no longer available. Amazon US has a statement about not shipping to my location when I sign in.

I did find the uxcell and yonico on Amazon Canada though. One says 3 weeks shipping the other up to 6 weeks shipping.

I'll finish my "work" day and search some more tonight. I guess faster it's ordered faster it'll get here lol.

Try the Magnate website. They sell direct and I don't see why they wouldnt have international shipping.

Magnate is technically listed on Amazon still but it just ships direct from Magnate itself. So you might as well contact them.

I bet the Uxcell and Yonico are shipping from China which is the reason for the long delivery time.

Yeah, honestly, I think a bit will last nearly forever, as long as no damage hits that edge. It's a rather blunt edge too for what it does.
