Any feedback on the structure?
Also, when do you think it would end based on:
10>players with 15k Stacks, Rebuys first 4 levels and a 12.5k optional add on at lv.4
10+ players with 10k Stacks, Reubys first 4 levels and 7.5k optional add on at lv.4

20 minute levels
25/50
50/100
75/150
125/250
200/400
300/600
15 minute levels
400/800
500/1k
600/1.2k
800/1.6k
1k/2k
1.2k/2.4k
1.5k/3k
2k/4k
3k/6k
4k/8k
5k/10k
6k/12k
8k/16k
10k/20k
12k/24k

whats the problem to your solution ?

I would prefer more time on later levels which is inverse to your proposal, but I still not understand why you have a turbo structure with so many intermediate levels and 300 BB at start ...... it's a deep turbo ??

Again, what's the problem that you try to address, because without context your proposal seem wrong (too fast and too many levels and too much start stack for a fast structure)

My group likes to play for 4-5 hours with a break every hour or so. These are social games. I have had 20 minute levels with bigger jumps but thought this might work better. I can have 7-17 players on any given night and figured the starting stacks would make it end around the same time.
Do you think its a good progression?
Should I keep it as 20' levels?
Or switch the first levels to 15' and the later levels to 20'?

Gotcha

I'll propose 10'000 in stack no matter the amount of players and 15 min level.
7 to 10 players tourney will end by level 16 (4 hours game)
11 to 17 players tourney will end by level 19 (4:45 hours game)
both estimations includes 50% of the field doing a rebury (if less rebuy tournaments will ens sooner)
The amount of hours played does not includes the time break (10 minutes break recommended)

S.B. / B.B.

25 / 50
50 / 100
100 / 200
150 / 300
Pause - chip up 25

200 / 400
300 / 600
400 / 800
500 / 1'000
Pause

600 / 1'200
800 / 1'600
1'000 / 2'000
1'200 / 2'400
Pause - chip up 100

1'500 / 3'000
2'000 / 4'000
2'500 / 5'000
3'000 / 6'000
Pause - chip up 500

4'000 / 8'000
5'000 / 10'000
6'000 / 12'000
8'000 / 16'000

I have never liked structures with changes in the length of levels. I agree with @1A25R. However if there are changes in the length of levels, the later levels should be longer than the beginning levels. Otherwise your tourney becomes even more of a shovefest than it would normally.

IMO, if you need to shorten the length of the tourney then do it by removing levels.

I guess I wanted to allow a little deep stack play even though it is essentially a turbo. Are 15 minute levels to short for a full table? I don't know if the button will even make it around.

You could split the difference and make the first 3 levels 20m, the next 5 levels 18m, then 15m for the rest.

Generally if I’m tweaking level lengths, I start backwards from the expected end of the tournament. The level I expect the tournament to end I make 10m (or 15m depending on starting level lengths), and do the same for the level before. Then maybe 12/15m for a couple levels before that.

I think it’s fine to have shorter levels when the final table gets short handed at a home game.

15 minute levels to a full table is OK if people play accordingly :)
if there are too much Hollywood, chit-chat, booze and distraction it will not do it the first rounds.
if you have a variable field like yours consider doing a low cash game if less than 10 players

if you have 11 or 17 you will not have 2 full tables, so the question if 15 minutes does not apply (as you'll had 1 table of 6 and one of 5 OR 1 table of 9 and one of 8) Your can also set (whatever the number of players is between 11 and 17) that the "final table" is reached with the last 7 players.

For social single table tourneys with 20min blinds, I reduce to 15mins @ 3 players and 10mins @ 2 players.

If starting with 30-min levels, I reduce to 5 mins per player starting @ 5 players.

Keeps the # of hands played per level from growing exponentially whilst busted players are sitting around waiting to play a cash game. YMMV.

We go to 15 mins levels at level 17. this is mostly at the FT if not very short handed prior to the FT
