You lost the minimum. Why complain?

Last week I witnessed a player ask his opponent if he would show his hand if he showed his upon folding. The other player said yes and then promptly threw his hand face down into the muck pile after the other player folded his hand face up.

Surprisingly, the player kept his composure and didn't betray any signs of being upset. I wonder afterwards which is worse, slow-rolling or having someone renege on showing their hand after you have followed through with your end of the bargain.

Seems like the gentlemanly nature of the game is disappearing.

Seriously. You believe this warrants a poll?
Holy shit! I am letting way too many things slide in my daily life.

(BTW, you shouldn't cast a vote in your own poll.)

It wasn't something I deemed "floor worthy" but a guy at my table mentioned it and I was interested in seeing where others landed on the spectrum

Seems pretty overwhelming in support of doing what I did, which was go pee, lol

TBH, I'd have voted for option "C", which would have almost certainly have prompted someone else to exercise option "A".

Option "C" (safe for work)

With the majority on this one. Bit rude of him but yeah nothing to be done by anyone. The hand could've gone better, but honestly also could've gone worse ie action on the flop.

1) I am UTG+1 with AA, raise to 18k
2) Old guy on button cold calls,
3) Flop TQK all spades, I dont have one, we check.
4) Turn 4 spades, check,
5) river red 3, both check

6) Old guy says Kings but doesn't turn over, I announce Aces, he flips over KJ with the J of spades

7) Another player points out his flush and the old guy says "I know that!"

Perhaps I'm dense, but please explain why you all were "announcing" and not "showing".

How we play it is: if there is no aggressive action on the final round (everyone checks), the first player to act must show his hand. Following players may then either show or muck.

He announced kings, i announced aces then tabled my hand, he tabled his after mine was faceup

Fair enough.
I’d never want to be slowrolled. But I’d also never want to be the tattletale who calls the floor to comment lain about it, event though it was technically an infraction.

He didn't deliberately miscall - he didn't realize he had the flush.

When you check the river, he should be betting 100% of the time with the second nuts. He checked behind, so I'm 99% sure he misread his own hand.

Go take a leak, come back, and take their chips.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Really @Anthony Martino you should have tabled immediately after the button checks. Not only is that the proper showdown etiquette, villian might have missed the j of spades in his hand and mucked.

If he knew he had the jack of spades, then he's being a jerk and then bring it up to the floor if he persists. But you aren't blameless by not tabling in turn.

Folks sure are making lots of assumptions in this thread.

Villian was last to act, he checked and announced Kings

I then said Aces and tabled my hand. Maybe try not to fill in the blanks with shit you made up

Seriously though what does 'beardface' have to do with calling the floor. ... :whistling::whistle: :whistling:

(Damn it @Tommy can we get a pot stirring emoji.....pleeeezzzz)

Ah fair enough, he announced before you had an opening to table?

Gotcha, then you did the right thing. You weren't damaged since you are first to show anyway. He's possiblity being a jerk and I would involve the floor if he persists. Otherwise, it's fine to let it go.

Its pettty to think he should be penalized for this

Never said that was my thought. Guy at my table mentioned it was a penalty and said he would've called the floor

I felt that was a waste of time, but wanted to get everyones thoughts to see if others felt the same

I get how you feel, he did a kind of slow roll. intended or not, it hurts but cards talk.

even if you did call the floor, and you got the floor to give him a penalty, You would look like a petulant child, and that is not a good look. those who were watching labeled this guy as a dik.

and thers PLENTY of em at the tables no matter where you go. What is it about this game that attracts so may diks anyway?

Just don't be this guy. he is a dik

It must have been mike the mouths dad.

You need to show two cards to win, period. Maybe he was shooting an angle.. but he can say he forgot what he had etc.

Cards speak and he tabled them based on description. Floor might give a warning, but i doubt he would be penalized unless he did it more than once.

I don't muck unless I see the winning hand.
