As an LA local and frequenter of many House's of sin in the area, it kind of bums me out how little effort local card rooms put into their chips/designs (other than Lucky Lady of course.

I used to live in LA and went to Commerce and the Bike a lot. Both had BJ chips and those seem to last forever. So I get it.

Now I'm in SB county and the closest Poker room is Morongo (since Yaamava and Pechanga closed their rooms). At least Morongo has house mold Paulsons. Thought they're not that nice.

If I want to play with nice chips, I have to play in local home games. Over the years, I've convinced 3 of my regular hosts to get nice chips.

Well done , player!

Tell me...psychological manipulation and public shaming ...or direct physical threats?

My first conversion was a game I was playing in weekly for many years. He had awful Chinese chips. The only thing they had going for them is the denom was on them. Nevada Jacks had a decent sale on the skull chips at the time and I offered to pay 1/3. This person now also has a decent cash set of Matsui's. I was going to sell them on here. Took them to his house for pictures (his table was already setup and he was a neighbor at the time) and he bought them from me. Cool! No packaging and I get to play with them for free!

Another was @Suited Connector which was a tough one to convince. At one point, I practically gave him a set of Paulson Starbursts. I don't remember why he didn't like them, but they were never used in a game. I eventually bought them back from him and sold them for what I paid. He will deny even having them, doesn't even remember them lol. Gave up on him. Then years later he got into it and now has a great selection.

Another local host has played in my game often over the years. Got him to settle on the Isle Chipco set that TCR was selling in a Christmas sale a few years ago.

I also play in @DeadheadDave game. He has a nice selection of Tina ceramics. I take no credit for him though. Him and I lost touch for 15+ years and I found him again through a mutual friend.

I have a wonderful Huntington Park set for sale

So I have a bit of inside track on SoCal Indian casinos. One thing I can say, don't ever expect any of them to shell out a dime more than they have to. They will absolutely go with the cheapest shit they can. San Manuel, Morongo, Soboba, Pechanga, Pala, Augas Calientes; doesn't matter. They all min max to provide the best per-cap checks to their members. Not saying its wrong, but its how it is.
