How do those yellows match up to Burt Co. yellows (vs Paulson yellows)? You sure they were made for C&J and not for Paulson?

No, I am not sure and there are many people more qualified than me to answer your question. I was under the impression that long cane + shiny hat + CPC feel = C&J.

Long cane + shiny hat + CPC feel = Burt Co., who made the chips initially for C&J (1955-1865) and also later for Paulson (1965-late '70s) after C&J closed and Paulson purchased the THC molds from Pat Sullivan.

Burt used unique colors for the Paulson chips they made, and color is often the best barometer to help determine Burt's customer (if dates or sales card info isn't available).

Good to know, I don't own a Paulson sample set though so I can't answer your original question using that.

In addition to dates, sales info, and color, the hotstamp style can also be helpful. Those 25c and 50c stamps seem to be more in the Paulson style than C&J stock stamps (Burt Co. sold inlays and blanks, but did not stamp chips).

Edited listing title.

Are you willing to split this? I would be interested a two racks. 140 quarters and 60 50 cent chips. Basically racks #2 and #3.

Only if all accounted for and you figure out the pricing split amongst yourselfs. Will be extra shipping costs too depending on # of splits.

What are all those dark spots on the quarters? Have you tried to clean any of them?
I have no idea. I spent 2 min srcubbing one with soap as an experiment. Seems like it comes off fine. Perhaps it is some patina of the brass flakes if mike32 is correct that these chips have them.

Correct. It's called verdigris. Basically oxidation of the brass flakes mixed in with the clay to give the chips extra weight. Sometimes it will clean up but it will probably come back. Consider it a vintage patina that makes old chips cool.
