Hey guys,

Slowly creeping into the bridge setup world after strictly using poker size... I've been enjoying the feel of dealing them and even playing with them. Would love some budget recommendations, sub $15 setups. I honestly prefer standard index for bridge size so the broadway card art is bigger but will take recommendations for both!

Bridge setups I've tried:
Dal Negros Grand Slam (bought them slightly used)
Broken Arrow (black/gold)
Broken Arrow Pro Series (waiting for invoice and shipment)

Thanks :)

Grand Slams are great.....
They're amazing, from what I've handled so far I really enjoy them. The setup I got (used) are just a little faded but they'll be in rotation no doubt.

The 2012 decks are Fournier cards with Bicycle faces. They were used in the tournament and subsequently available on eBay for a very cheap price, and they have a lot of fans on the forum. I do not know if they are still available or not.

Most people here prefer jumbo index for the games they play, but it's ultimately a matter of personal preference.

Thanks for the knowledge. Looks like there aren't many decent quality, readily available, budget setups for bridge size besides broken arrow..

For $15 or less, it's more difficult to find set ups aside from what's already been listed. Angel's pvc cards are bridge and regular index, and they are around $5 per deck before shipping on Amazonjp. Their acetate cards are likely the best regular index playing cards I've used outside of maybe KEM or the short lived Desjgn on modiano's stock, and they haven't bowed or warped like probably half my Kems have over the last 20 years (being generous). These cards come out to around 23-24 per setup before shipping. Shipping is rough though, around $17 or so, so that could be a dealbreaker.

Other brands that are usually readily available online that are solid cards in the $20 per set up range are Copag ($20), Da Vinci ($18), and Marion Pro ($22).

That's what I'm starting to realize... I think my mind is skewed towards the more "budget" price range just because of how cheap and enjoyable the Broken Arrows are that I don't really want to spend more. I've thought about desjn's but the the bridge size is only one color... Also shipping costs will be the death of me LOL I consider it apart of the cost. Did you have any specific site you purchased cards from?

I Just ordered and than saw this thread so passing along the deal. Not sure about how they compare to the grand slams as I’ve never had them.

I have a few decks of poker size Dal Negros though and they are my favorite cards over many others I’ve tried.

The non-Angel brands I mentioned are all available on Amazon, and depending on whether you are a prime member or spend over a certain amount, shipping can be free. Right now there isn't much available for bridge Desjgn since the last versions (on DN stock) sold out a few months back. A new version on different stock may be coming this year though, so that's good news. The previous set ups usually ran in the $20 range I believe, maybe $25 after shipping.

The 2011/2012 WSOP bundle (Fournier and KEM) was a killer deal on eBay. Search seller pokerguru. They might be sold out by now.

Angel PVC cards are excellent and really inexpensive but unless you bundle, shipping can be expensive:

Marion Pro has bridge size for a decent price on Amazon. (a little outside your budget). They are really nice cards IMHO.

Some of the cheap Temu cards are OK. (Kings)

Any update on your order? Would love to hear a review when you get them in, about the cards and the ordering experience with Kardwell!

Hey totally meant to come back to this thread. Don’t buy lol. I’ve read up on these after, and they have some very weird residue on them.

Another member said he wiped them off with a damp cloth, but even still they do not feel like other dal negro’s I’ve used. I’m a huge fan of dal negro, but these are a pass.

Thanks for the heads up... Was planning on grabbing it with a couple of the $1 chips and games decks but I guess it's not even worth the hassle

I use 10 different setups, and had thought about an in-depth review thread. While the "best chip" is generally accepted (Paulson or TRK), it becomes much harder to determine the best deck as some people like stiff cards, some like cards that flex more. Some consider the readability of the pips most important, others have no issue regardless of manufacturer. I wont even get into the whole bridge size vs poker size debate - they are personal preferences.

Somewhere, I made a post ranking how I felt about each deck. I ranked them by font (I hate it when clubs and spades are easily mistaken, especially for older players), table glide (it's not just the surface that determines how cards scoot across a table), ease of shuffle (as players are eliminated from a tournament, dealing can be a better option than leaving, and the next player eliminated shuffles for the dealer, which can be a long night if shuffling is challenging), and ease picking up cards (some cards are a little tougher to peek at).

However, you can only test them yourself. The "Buy Samples" mantra applies. My only recommendation is fire up a thread asking to buy used setups from other people. Dented cards needn't go to the trash if someone is willing to pay for shipping so you can test them.

Great advice, I actually started a wanted section on the classfields for used ish cards and was able to get some used dal negros and modianos in, I like them!

Cartamundi CCP
I always recommend these and they used to be $12 on Amazon. Just went to look and they are no longer available

I got a setup of DaVinci bridge jumbo index and they are pretty decent and cheap.

As many here know I own a sample from almost every manufacturer. Kems are my absolute favorite card but are way too expensive now and take some extra storage attention to keep they from bowing.

Now that the CCPs are unavailable I’d say the DaVinci’s are the best bang for the buck of cheap and easy to find cards
