During my first tournament this past weekend, I used a bounty chip and it was a big hit! The problem came up when one of the players busted and rebought - he wanted to be able to take a bounty chip if he knocked another player out. I made the call that in order to get a chip, you have to have one. When I said that, the room went quiet and I sensed that people disagreed. I ended up letting the majority decide and they wanted to allow rebuying players to take bounty chips even without having one from getting knocked out the first time. The concern came when a rebuying playing sans bounty chip knocked 4 people out in a 5-way all in pot and got 4 bounty chips out of it. It didn’t sit well with me and I want to avoid a situation like this in the future.
My first thought is to have players who want to rebuy have the option to purchase another bounty chip. No chip, no bounty.
I am open to suggestions and feedback!

Just include a bounty chip with every stack - whether initial buy-in or a rebuy.

Guy gets felted - his bounty goes to the player who stacked him. He rebuys and gets a fresh bounty chip with his rebuy stack. Proceed as usual.

I wouldn’t consider letting a player back in without a bounty. He’s re-entering the tournament. I’d consider him a new player that joined late.

If I’m running any kind of “specialized”tournament I treat everybody like they just entered the first time. Keeps everything straightend out.

Including drawing for a new seat or being seated at a different table to even them out.

Our tournament requires a total knockout for someone to collect a bounty. If a player during the rebuy period chooses to rebuy? They keep their original bounty.

Everyone in my game knows bounties are collected usually when the rebuy period ends, or in the rare scenario where a player chooses not to rebuy.

I personally like the simplicity of "every stack gets a bounty." But sometimes you run into the practicality of people not being able to afford a rebuy if they need to rebuy a bounty.

For my tournaments every starting stack is given a Bounty plaque.

If you knock someone out you get their Bounty plaque.

If they Rebuy.....they get a new Bounty plaque.

I am a bit confused by this - a bounty chip costs something else? Why not just include it in the cost of a stack/Rebuy? Are you paying Rebuys out from a separate pot?

My first thought is to have players who want to rebuy have the option to purchase another bounty chip. No chip, no bounty
