anyone know this color?

So every tourney chip available is 36mm correct?

That lowstakes Majestic set is a big tempt for me for my first real set.
Yeah this seems like the best option. The 1s and 5s look too be in very good condition and depending the stakes you play you could use the 25s as quarters. I've never handled 36mm chips though

Buying a set of generic mass produced chips would be more expensive and the second you open the package it loses a quarter to a half of its resale value whereas Historically Chip room sale chips almost never sell for less than the sale price and offer sell for more.

There’s no real downside to buying them even if all you wanted to do was take a closer look, shuffle them and play with them in a couple of home games.

Like others have said, do it.

But if you want my advice...

Do it

Here's some pros
  • At 50¢ a chip, it's cheap
  • They look in reasonable condition (especially compared to the worn out "cash" chips)
  • They're versatile
  • -> can be used in low stakes as is, or as extreme micro stakes where each number on the chip represents a penny ( 5 = 5¢ 500 = $5 )
Some cons
  • Solid colors only (spots are the spice of chips, but bland is less expensive)
  • Smaller size than "normal" 39mm chips (feels different in the hand, may even sound different when handling, shuffling)
  • No options for more denominations (I think 1 through 1000 is it, no 5k or higher)
I hope this was helpful and maybe have you ideas you didn't think about.

I'll just pretend you did not post that :x

 :ROFLMAO:

I posted that bullet point just to rile up the #teamsolid chippers.
Let me rile up another group ....

<clears throat>

At least the 1s are not blue in that set.

(All in good fun)

how can you not like blue 1s?????
Blue twos are better!

That is a damn fine chip if I do say so.

But I digress.

I've seen the light and agree that solids are .... (struggling to type this) nice and blue ones are.... (screaming in pain while typing this next word) acceptable.
Sorry, best I can do.

My apologies for derailing the black Friday sale thread.

How are the used $500 Jack chips? Are they near mint/very good or close enough to the used $100 chips?

Just to point out, but the 2 of the most highly priced/valued live Vegas $1 chips right now are circus circus and flamingo, with binions not far behind and all are blue.

The used $500's that I have had are better than the 1's, 5's and 25's and pretty similar to the $100's. The 100's might be a little better quality.
