Big Top or Sunset or ES reorder (2 Viewers)

I’m pretty sure that the people who own those sets don’t want to see their chips take a huge nose dive in value due to a flood order.

Hi gents. Any chance we can get a reorder of 1 of these orders above and open it up to more PCF members?

I’d be happy to pay for the privilege and compensate the person that has the gpi connect

sorry...500post minimum to participate

I’m sure their already 5 to 10x roi is enough. Or maybe that’s what this forum is about.
I’m not saying I agree with how ridiculously expensive those chips are. Because, they are absolutely gorgeous. But I’ve also been around here long enough to know how things work. Count me in on a buy though!

Perhaps it’s time for a change. I’ve never been happy with the status quo. And I’ve seen a number of these group buy chip dumps.

If people want to organize their own venture - more power to you. However, you can't use existing designs. I dont mean that in an ethical sense. I mean literally GPI wont run Star chips or SB chips for you.
Also any pattern/color combo ever used before can never be duplicated. That is a strict policy.

If you are going to try then ensure it is a professional effort so you dont spoil it for everyone else.

Thanks for the advice. Makes sense. Would be nice if one of the veteran members would guide us through this and we could pay him a consulting fee to make this happen.

Was that the express purpose of these sets? To resell to the lowly masses at huge mark up?

I always thought a custom Paulson set was the holy grail for chip nerds. And not just for the purpose of making a buck...

The purpose is specific to each individual and instance. It’s impossible and unfair to group all custom purchases into the same category.

If most here had the chance to buy more custom chips than they needed I think they would and should since it gets more customs out there for the “lowly masses”. I also don’t think you’re being realistic in thinking that if they sold the chips for less than market value that others wouldn’t eventually sell them for market value at a higher price. That being said it would be great to see some % of profit above the buyers total cost to go to something like a charity which would still allow the chips to be sold at market value.

Truth is that if you don’t have crazy money to burn you’re likely never going to get your hands on custom Paulsons. You can either be angry and jealous, like I initially am for the first week after seeing them (sorry Lemon :p) or you can be in awe while also realizing that those chips push the price down or at the very least, availability up, of all other chips even if just fractionally.

I think you are making a ton of assumptions about my post. Not sure how you interpreted the four sentences I wrote to mean that I'm somehow demanding that people sell at below market prices.

I'm questioning the guy I quoted - does he believe people went to extreme lengths to get a custom Paulson set to just flip and make a few bucks?

I don't think it takes a 'crazy' amount of money to get these secret sets made. People have theorized ~$2/chip. Far cheaper than buying Paulsons on the secondary market these days.

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to come across as crass or callous.

But,

I think the purpose of the sets if for people to have bad ass chips. I also think @detroitdad is correct in saying that the creators have been able to auction off sets at a high enough value to cover costs. I’m also saying there are people out there that have paid $8-$9/chip and would cry a few buckets of tears if those chips suddenly were valued at $2-$3/chip.

Sorry for misinterpreting. In that case... it’s tough to also totally downplay the financial aspect of custom Paulsons considering some chips have gone for $7-10+ of their initial cost so if you made a purchase of say 10,000 chips that could mean $70,000 in profit which ain’t chump change.

All I know is, if I can get mint custom Paulsons at cost, I’m selling at max profit.

You know, to cover all the chip costs I’ve spent in the last 6 months.

If people were willing to sell to me at $20/chip for certain chips I’m willing to sell new chips back at $6-8/chip. No moral dilemma for me.

Purely theoretical of course.

You guys bring up some fair points. Greed ruins alot of things. It's unfortunate but a fact of life - even within a forum centered around a hobby.

I guess I'm in the camp that would just order what I would actually use. A cash set with enough bank to support a single table 50c/$1 cash game. Up to perhaps a $5/$5 game. The dream set would be a th&c set that had 39mm 50c, $1, and $5. And 43mm $20 and $100. I'm thinking a rack of 50c and $1, 4 racks of $5s, 2 racks of $20s, and a rack of $100. 900 chips or so. Maybe a few extras of each for backup and sample sets.

Not sure that was necessary buddy. But you are entitled to your opinion.

So you get the chance. And in planning your grail purchase, you realize there are no re-orders. So you buy for every possible contingency, definitely more than you need today...but maybe someday.

And then you realize there is 30% of your chips that will never see the felt.

And then you realize selling those chips you're not using will fetch enough to cover your entire outlay. And while that may feel dirty, you know if you sell at your cost, someone else will realize that profit.

And so you start an auction and become what you loathe.

:) lol.

Is this narrative from a personal experience? ;)

A re-order of the ES chips would be awesome, don't casinos re-order all the time?

I was fortunate to get an opportunity to buy a couple sets on the secondary market, for what were very fair prices. It was just luck on my part, but I was grateful for the chance.

Custom/semi-custom Paulson's have been the dream for a long time, but the closest I'll come in labels from @Gear on my ES chips.
