Tourney Betting limit for a Draw Game (1 Viewer)

Hi there,

Which betting limit would you prefer for a Single Draw mixed (dealer choice) game (mainly tournament but why not try it as a cash game) ?

Mixed games would be:
- 5-Card Draw (without Joker, with Joker)
- Single Draw 2-7 Lowball (without Joker)
- California Lowball (with Joker)

Since this game is only played with 5 cards, I don't think a hi-lo would bring something with very few possibiliies to scoop...

Personally I think pot limit might be nice.

For single draw I would prefer Pot Limit or No Limit.

We play 2-7 single draw No Limit. Blinds are .25/.50. The bring in (or if you want to play) is a minimum of two bucks. We play it No Limit and the guys seem to like it. If there was more than one draw then I'm an advocate for PL or FL.

No Limit.

With only two rounds of betting, those are games rich in bluffing opportunities. No Limit provides a far better vehicle for it imo because of the polarization of large betting sizes.

I see also some fixed limits votes but it would be interesting to also get the « why » as pot-limit or no-limit supporters did.

A little bit off topic, but triple draw has the same number of rounds of betting as Hold’em or Omaha. So why do you think that pot-limit or no-limit is not so appropriate for this game ?

I originally went for fixed limit, but then I read the post more carefully. For games with only two rounds of betting, no limit all day.

For triple-draw games, I'd prefer either pot limit or fixed limit, depending on the crowd.

Spread limit is for octogenarians who play high-only Stud.

Pot Limit is fine for triple draw just not my personal preference.

I come from a fixed limit player background/perspective so I don't enjoy putting my entire stack on the line for every single bet like NL players love to do. If given a choice (and not playing fixed limit) I'd always prefer PL (where you can at least practice some symblance of pot control) over NL for most every game. But most PL games are just a succession of Pot, Pot, Pot until it doesn't really matter anyway.

Multi-draws: Fixed limit or Pot limit.

Same number of betting rounds, but you have more information in the community cards.

I support Fixed, Spread, or No limit for Holdem, Fixed, Spread, or Pot for Omaha.

So I gave it a shot. It was a mixed game (tournament) with the following variants :
- Draw with Joker
- Cali Lowball
- Draw without Joker
- 2-7 Single Draw
To try all games, I did not go with dealer choice but game change at every orbit.

I tried it once as pot-limit and once as no-limit.
Everyone at the table (incl. me) preferred no-limit.

They liked those variants (for most it was their first Lowball game).
