Just looking for advice for the best structure or format for a heads up game.

I've heard best of 3 works well, but what kind of blinds/stack do you go with?

I think this is from @BGinGA. Used it vs. @SJFCPK18 before a cash game and I won. Perfect structure! :ROFLMAO:

Generally 40/40/20 of three consecutive denoms works ok for heads up, and fills a full rack.

^^ Most tournaments will end no later than when the TBBs in play reaches 20 or fewer.

Can't remember where I saw it, but there was a structure where the blinds went up every 11 hands instead of being on a timer....seemed like a great way to do it.

I have never played in a head's up tournament format though...but I am totally in if I ever get the chance.

Hey man,

Tried this structure tonight in a best of 3. Worked great, and took it down 2-1!

Although, we used two decks to try to maximize the hands as its only 6 mins per level, and found that the ante's were a bit annoying to continue to keep track of. I want to eliminate the ante's and just add them into the blinds, but I don't want to ruin the value of the structure by outright removing them.

Maybe I can just run it without the ante's and see how it plays. Would you suggest changing the blinds?

@LeLe, would you have any input on this?

Make the big blind pay ante and have it equal to the current big blind

We usually do the BB ante for tournaments, but for this it would drastically increasing the ante's amount. For example in level 1, it would be an extra 75 for the BB.

I also use this structure but the one with 1500 starting stack, I increased the blind timer to 10 minutes
