Best Chip Case ? (1 Viewer)

While I understand that having something like an Apache case for travel is good, I feel that poker chips are tiny works of art and need to be displayed as such. Whenever I see someone with a wall of Apache cases it just looks tacky to me.

Doesn't really get better than this IMO.

I prefer Paulson cases actually, simple, no frills, and 50 to a row of minty Paulsons suits me just fine. I just wish I had a few larger ones. At home I like them in a birdcage for display purposes.

Looking to buy a birdcage...is everything tight inside? It looks to me it's pretty much stacks of chip racks standing freely on each side. Does the cover tighten everything up? This is what I'm looking at. Not the hinged type.

The cages I have nothing is tight and I cringe everytime I pick the damn thing up. I really only recommend for using in your house if you need to move them short distances. I would never take chips out of my house in a birdcage.

Those are really cheap cages. I think I got mine from BRPoker or something. They came with 10 Chipco racks for like $100 I think, maybe less.

Just got my Park Place chips and Slowplay 500 chip case and it's sweet! Doesn't hold cards like others said (not sure what size it would?) But I don't care. Slim case, good latches & light weight. Highly recommend. ($90 from Amazon). I considered buying it loaded with the Slowplay Nash Art Deco Chips but didn't think I'd be able to sell the 500 chips for $50 to offset the difference so I just got the case. Love it.

I'm also partial to Nanuk cases as I use them for work all of the time. Very solid and the latches are top notch.

Haven't picked one up for chips yet, but I am planning to in the near future. My current hard case's latches makes me worried when I load it up with chips. A little too much flex and give. Don't really want to yard sale 800 chips everywhere.

Looks like blocks of wood where another 5 chips would fit

Only 24 Matsui or CPC chips fits into it. So I cut a log wood to fill the space for 20 chips

So far my Versa 1000 case is holding up fine although it's generally just moved from closet to table not carried abouts. I was skeptical because it only has the 2 front latches and I still would prefer it have one latch on each side too but it seals snug all the way around (you can see it holding my Mirage Springs set in my Avatar). It holds WAY more than 1000. Each row holds an additional 7 chips and you could store chips in the 2 card deck cut outs and dice cut out. I currently have 1,130 chips in it.

Versa 500 is my favourite. I’ve got Versa 1000 cases and Nanuk cases but my go to is the best for my travel sets.

I just bought another one this morning for my newest set.

Here’s the versa 500 with 600 chips in it. All I’ve done is put some foam in the card and dice trays.

One time I got one of those 500 chip cases and the 2 outer rows where so poorly made that the metal from the case would actually scratch the front and the back most chip. Since then I only every used acryl cases, they sell them here with 100 or 200 and even 600 and you get a cover on them too. I am only glad I didnt put my expensive chips into that one, getting them metal scratched would have made me mad.

I’m a huge fan of the Nanuk cases if you travel with your chips at all. It has a double catch on the latch as a safety so it will never open until you want it to open. I’ve got just a few to serve as examples….View attachment 1106646View attachment 1106648

I’ve got 920 and 930 mostly, but I’ve also played with the 918 and 935 as well. I’ve got a 910, but I haven’t played around with it yet.

I use lidded racks, but they’re all a little different in size. The Matsui racks are just a hair bigger than Apache, so they don’t work in the 918. But all other racks work fun in all cases I’ve tried, including open racks.

The Nanuk 920 holds 700 chips in lidded racks turned on side or 4 stacks of 2 racks for 800 chips

The Nanuk 930 holds 1500 chips in lidded racks in 5 stacks or 3 racks. This one leaves some space for added buttons, tokens, or cards, depending on how you want to pluck the foam inside.

The Nanuk 935 holds 2000 chips in lidded racks in 5 stacks or 4 racks. This also has some space for added buttons, tokens, or cards, depending on how you want to pluck the foam inside.

The Nanuk 918 is in the middle of the last two. It’ll hold either 1200 or 1600 chips depending on which racks you use. I have had most luck with open racks in this case. 4 stacks of 3 racks with an empty tray inverted on each stack works well, but 4 stacks of 4 racks also works if you swap the top foam for something other than the egg crate that comes with it.
