ASM/ Burt Mold Found Again ! (1 Viewer)

I told myself I would never own a set of chips with dice on them again. I would obviously need to make an exception for the arodie mold. love it

Today is the day I will reveal the mold , and the details about the company that still owns it.
Info tidbit #1 - It is NOT the hub mold.
Info tidbit # 2 - The correct mold has been posted in this thread, so we have a winner. ..
Stay tuned :)

I might be the only person glad it's not the hub mold. It's beautiful, but the MD-50 is close enough that I'd rather have something entirely new.

I have a fairly high confidence level it is the floral mold. I know a little bit about it because I owned a bunch of floral chips which I recently sold. George and Co. sold these chips, and they moved from Buffalo NY to Florida a while back. He did talk about a company move in the original post so that helped my confidence level, plus they are still in business in Florida I believe. They are pretty cool chips and it is a nice mold, but the chips I owned were just ok in my book. I have not yet regretted letting them go.

Someone would have to explain the excitement surrounding the Arodie mold. Is it tactile (I have no samples)? Is it an old classic from Vegas casinos? To me it looks horrendous, but to each their own.

*** ****** WE Have A Winner!

George and Co. Still apparently are Buffalo NY's "MOST FUN AND UNUSUAL STORE" , and has been selling Gifts, Gags, Novelties, Games , Makeup and Costumes since the 1st half of the 20th century.

From their website:
"It was the year 1994, when George & Peter decided to separate the retail and manufacturing businesses.
The manufacturing business, now George & Company LLC, moved to Florida in 2002 and operates different websites, selling games and game supplies.
After 14 years in the Eastern Hills Mall, George & Company is now located at the corner of Main St. and Transit Rd. next to T.G.I.Friday's (in Williamsville NY).
Now with a fourth generation involved in the business, we expect to continue to evolve and grow. We thank all our customers, without you we could not have lasted all these years .. "
They are known for their " LCR Dice Game " They Invented.

After seeing a George & Co NY "chip box" posted from a set of floral chips ( MD-72 ), I emailed the NY retail location about the mold, but did not receive a reply.
An email to their Florida location ( www.dicegames.com ) which seems to be centered around manufacturing & selling their toys and games, got me the reply in the OP from jill at dicegames.com , It's the Florida division that seems to "have" ownership of the mold.

@mike32 wins! With the very 1st chip posted! PM'm me your shipping address ...

@BGinGA - Is this one of the molds you mentioned CPC is storing for the owner in the double secret probation vault, or is it actually a discovery of a "lost mold" location out in the wild, with the possibility of being resurrected?

These are from "winner" @mike32 's recent classified, & below those are some images from the current 2 ( NY & FL ) George & Co wesites:

This could be the perfect mold to convert wives/girlfriends to poker/chipping...

Ideal anniversary or Valentine's gift?

What says "I love you" better than a custom chip set?*

* diamond ring/jewellery is incorrect answer, as is shoes

Back in the day poker night used to always include a game called Mexico where 123 on the die made you push a chip left center or right and 456 you kept your chips. Last guy with a chip won the pot. This was 25 years ago so I doubt they invented LCR, but hey who knows. Thanks for the fun contest and I guess I had an unfair advantage due to my affinity for uncommon and inexpensive chips. PM on the way.

My call as well. One of the few old companies still in business. Is the dislike because of the weight? I think a lot of the floral chips out there were made before they started adding lead or brass flakes to give them more weight. Alot of the older small keys were like that as well.

The arodie mold still exists (i received a few mold samples from ASM a few years back), but i thought the mold was so worn, it could not be used reliably.

My main dislike was because of the weight. I did have two racks with brass flakes, but even those just felt "plasticky" to me and lighter than the many other ASM and CPC chips I have handled. I will admit the floral chain in the mold looks pretty damn cool.

you can buy this game with custom labeled dice and cheap plastic chips. We play this sometimes on poker night to run off the chips that don't cash to the even dollar in out .05/.10 game.

I guess to each his own. YMMV, but for my money this mold screams classic Vegas/Nevada.

I'll just leave these samples here.

I accept the love then, as it is classic Vegas. I wasn't around back then, and never got into collecting chips from an era before my time, but I certainly respect those that do.

Are the Horseshoe $25 and 4-queens $5 inverted arodie?

Arodie has a classic look and was a well known early Vegas mold. ASM tried to do a run of these but something was broken with the mold and some of the arodies didn't come out properly.

There was a card room regular in the Seattle area that owns a CNC shop. He makes parts for Boeing and other companies. He used to make some pretty cool custom card caps for other players. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he made the ones for Redbelly's final home game.

It seems like it wouldn't be much more work to make some custom molds. But then again, I'm fairly ignorant about such things. Could be a fun project though if the PCF community banded together to come up with a new mold that could be used by CPC.

I assume you mean ASM/Maine correct? Because if it was Vegas, they might still be viable (though ownership would still be an issue).

* I've always been a little hazy on if some molds are actually just "cups" that fit into an existing plate CPC may already have, while other molds have apparently no "cups" and are part of the plate itself ?
* Also, is the floral mold one of the ASM stored molds for the owner?
@BGinGA ?

I think a chip "mold" is more like a machined die. Just guessing, that's gonna be pretty expensive
