Have you played live poker during the pandemic?

We play once or twice a week. We all wear masks (which some hate) and have decent ventilation and air purifiers.

Managed a couple of games post-lockdown in June and 6 live games since the end of August, but I suspect last week was the last one for the foreseeable future given the way things are looking here in Switzerland now, especially if the government introduces new lockdown measures, which seems inevitable at this point.
Still I hope that my game on the 28th will be possible.

We stopped playing when restrictions were placed on how many guests you could have in your house at any one time.

Have been playing twice a month since restrictions were lifted. No masks while playing.

I have yet to purchase or wear a mask this pandemic.

A group of 8-9 of us all from town have been playing for the past 3 Thursday nights.
About to get these in play for the first time tonight!

I hosted a couple three times, played about a dozen. I found out my favorite ug was running again at a time of great personal strife so I got in a lot at once. Eyeing Borgata in 2 weeks too

I live with college roommates (8 including myself), so it's never really stopped for us, because we usually play amongst oursleves and invite 2 or 3 friends.

Around March we stopped inviting them, but recently started inviting them back, knowing they live on their own.

Of course, my situation is different than most on the forum probably who are in regular contact with older people.

Only played online from March - June, then once it was confirmed our province was covid free, we started our home game (25c/25c NLH/PLO unl straddle) up again. No masks, no hand sanitizer but there's really only a player pool of 15 people.

Casino didn't re-open their poker room so raked home games have done a fine job replacing them. It's much easier to find a 1/2 game now that the casino doesn't spread poker. Bar tournaments started up as well. The Chief Health Officer actually commented publicly about them, describing them as "important social events, especially to seniors" recommending wearing masks and using hand sani at each table.

If and when community spread starts around here, I'll be the first to #stayathome and get my fix online.

No, and I'm in...was in...a low-risk state. Numbers here and across the US as a whole are spiking like crazy, so yeah, not sure when I'll be able to host again.

I'm thinking when the 7-day average goes below 200 per day per 100K in my state, or if the Governor kills gatherings (again) and re-opens them...whichever happens first.

No, haven't played a live poker game since SQM in February. All poker has been online since then and it hasn't bothered me too much so far except for the lack of game selections.

Stopped dead in its tracks as of three weeks ago. Shut down for the rest of 2020. I will consider again in early 2021 when I'm vaccinated. I'll likely attend other games but I may not get enough for a game if I host if the players don't want to play until vaccines are readily available.

Still going weekly. Masks are required and it's the same 8 people every week give or take. So far, everyone has been super respectful and been doing what they can to keep everyone safe and keep the game going. I sanitize the table before each game and give each chip set a month off before they hit the felt again. Might not help, but who knows.

If one must play, I think these should be considered mandatory precautions. Only thing I'd add is no shared food and hand sanitizing every hour.

We have two bottles at the table, and as dealer I wash my hands every break. I've started a weekly card rotation too. It's all dumb little things, but if it helps me and my friends keep this going, I'm happy to do so. A little sanity is worth alot of precaution IMO.

New cards every week? What do you have? 200 card set ups or something?

Well... Yes .. I actually do....

After a game, the deck goes away for a week. I have three decks I'm rotating. I figured a few weeks off per deck just keeps things cleaner....

And I have 200 decks. So... It's not too hard to do. I could use a new deck per hand if needed. Hahahaha

The no shared food is something we implemented a few months back when numbers started increasing here.

We have the following COVID measures in place:
- 6 players max.
- masks mandatory
- hand sanitizer at table (players must sanitize hands whenever returning to the table)
- no eating at table
- no shared food. (I always prepare pizza, which I prepare and cut up myself and place on individual plates to help avoid cross-handling)
- I also air out the apartment every hour (opening the balcony doors)

- like Kifer, I sterilize our table and chairs before and after every game and rotate my chips, so they're getting at least a two week break. In recent weeks, I've been opening up new sets of cards as I just happen to have a bunch of unopened decks laying around.

In advance of every game, the above rules as well as the following reminder is sent out to everyone:
*Please use common sense and stay home if you are feeling unwell, experiencing any symptoms or have been in contact with someone experiencing symptoms and/or with someone who has had a COVID positive test result.

I'm under no illusion that the above completely eliminates any risk, but I feel confident that we are doing everything we can to minimize potential exposure to the best of our ability.

Taking precautions is like speeding but wearing a seatbelt, and not going too fast. We all know it's not the safest, but at least it's not completely stupid.

I will also be taking an extended break over the holidays. If people are willing to hang with me and pitch cards, they are going to hang with family. So the contact tracing circle just got a little bigger. I'm giving poker a pause until a couple weeks past New Years, so the family transmissions have a chance to die down.

Not unlike slowing to the speed limit when you are about to pass a donut shop.

That happened here with the schools also. The county decided that this week after the holiday, classes would be online only for the week. This allows for anybody that maybe caught something to show symptoms or test positive before jumping back into the crowds at school.

How far my life has turned around.

I think like a school principal now. :nailbite:

If only the guy that suspended me for the remainder of the school year could see me now...

My regular group has been playing on and off. Our big yearly game is this weekend so i hope everything can go as planned. Our numbers for this year are gonna be smaller..maybe 8-9.
