Anyone know @SoupHQ in Germany? He has been trying to get a package out of Germany to me but now he had gone MIA.

Anyone know him or can help me out?

I talked to him several times, and he lives near my town, but haven´t met him in personal. I can try to reach him via kleinanzeigen (german craigslist). I think I have him in the messenger

without knowing any detail, why is there no tracking for expensive RFID equipment? Did he not offer tracking or didn´t you want to pay for tracking? And medical issues can occur, don´t they? If stuff returned to seller he can sure prove it to you and sent a package with tracking

He wasn't scammed, it was just a series of unfortunate events.

I sent the package—it came back. I sent it again—it came back again. I was able to send it a third time (without having to pay again), this time with adjusted data (there seem to be problems with shipping to the USA).
--> The tracking said it had been returned to me, but it hadn't. It's nowhere to be found. Not at the neighbors', not anywhere in the shed, or anywhere else. Initial contact with the US Postal Service was a bit frustrating.

Then I had breathing problems, pneumonia, and ultimately a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. I was in the hospital for a while and can now take care of it again.

I'm sorry about twocannons—he sent me money and hasn't received anything yet. But I can't send him the money back because I didn't get the package back.
I'm now trying to solve the problem so that it's finally off the table.

I'm not a scammer and I don't intend to scam anyone.

Hey, life happens. Glad you're on the mend. It's a shitty situation all around. Generally speaking, once I drop off a package, my responsibility stops. It's in the hands of the post office/courier. What matters is that you're trying to make things right. Hope everyone is made whole.

Paid you on Aug 20. All I have gotten is excuses. Seems like a scam to me.
His reply was pretty well thought out and reasonable. Lot of issues with shipping to the USA right now.

Has he provided tracking numbers of the 3 shipments?

Was insurance ever purchased?

What was the amount of the items purchased?

If the buyer and seller didn’t disclose who would be liable if package is lost previously I have gone 50/50.

I would agree with @twocannons the lame jokes @chippitydoodah and others keep going on with resolve nothing and just cause more delay and frustration. I’ve had to deal w it too after being scammed.

So if he has a “good reason” then we should all just let it go?

Not sure why I have to make my case to you for you to believe that I am out $1200 and have nothing to show for it.

No one said to let it go. Calm down. Log off the cpu. Mentally reset. I understand your frustration but looking at the users PCF history if it was a scam he most likely wouldn’t log back in. Give him a few business days to try and locate the item. Then begin another resolution if necessary. I’ve been scammed $2500 here on PCF so again I understand the frustration.

You could send the money back. Or more fair … 50% until the issue is resolved.

As a third party, since (IF) nothing was disclosed prior to the transaction, and unless maybe the buyer said “no” insurance, a 50/50 refund seems fair, and if the item does make it … you are made whole.

It's a tough situation. Right now I wouldn't touch intercontinental shipping with a 10 foot pole. Too much bullshit right now. Any transaction from EU to North America and vice versa is very much a "buy at your own risk" situation.

well, shipping to EU works fine, the other direction is the problem right now.

And I would not take the risk as a seller to refund the buyer IF this package gets lost or damaged. Why should I pay for the damage made by the shipping company? I once helped out as the sender to make a reimbursment case with DHL and got some money back, which I refunded to the buyer in the US, but why should I reimburse the full payment, when DHL or whatever looses the package?

Well in the true retail world environment, the seller is always 100% responsible. You’re the one profiting and should inherit the risk.

Since this is more of a hobby site I believe the 5050 is more fair.

I agree 100%

These situations always stink, no great answers, but also no clear "scam" vibes. Good luck to both, hope the mail system ultimately figures their shit out.

But it’s different with private sales. Once the seller has handed the package over to the courier, they’re usually no longer responsible for the successful delivery. That’s why I always let the buyer decide which shipping conditions they prefer, such as tracking and insurance.

I’m good with whatever if it’s been disclosed. But if neither the buyer nor seller disclosed it, 50/50 seems fair.

Honestly it sounds like the shipper made a bunch of mistakes and now doesn’t want to be held liable for it?

It kinda sounds like the shipper was wonky to start with and now the buyer is expected to pay for the shippers inexperience and who knows if it was even right the third time. I think buyers have a right to expect shipping to be done in a timely and in a manner that is satisfactory to the method of shipping.

“I taped up a Warneke box and wrote some shipping info on it with a smeared sharpee. I’m no longer responsible for anything after I leave it on the corner for the mailman to pickup tomorrow”.
Just doesn’t cut it and it’s ridiculous to make the buyer responsible for poor shipping.
