Just trying to figure out if I can throw together an 8-handed tournament set with only 200 chips.
10/6/8/1 would do it, I’m just wondering how bad it would play with only 48 T25s on the table.

I guess I could also try 10/8/5/1 for 1250 stacks, but that might be worse.

Hmm

It’s not ideal but it should work well enough. How do you have a chipset with that breakdown? 80/48/64/8??? That’s a weird combination and you won’t be able to color up.

Oh I don’t. I’m just looking at a case that looks very cool, but it only holds 200 chips, so I’m thinking about what I could do with it.

Oh I see. 8 players is going to be tough with a 200 chip limit. Whatever you do you’ll have almost no room for any color ups or rebuys. 8/8/8 t25 base gets you a 5,000 starting stack and leaves you with potentially 8 1k chips to color up with, enough to get all the 25s and 100s out of the game when the time comes. Case would be 64/64/64/8.

8-8-8 T5k but yeah, 200 chips for 8 players is gon' be tough.

may be better off doing 2 heads up sets (80/20 each)?

I had decided to do 10/10/7/1 1500 stacks. Because the novelty of designing stacks to fit into the 200 chip case was just dumb. But then a few factors caused me to change the new plan. I’d read a thread where @BGinGA suggested that 12/12 and 15/15 were ideal, and that 8/8 and 10/10 stacks were the bare minimum. I’ve played enough 8/8 and 10/10 stacks in casinos to know they work fine, but this is a home game that I can control, so why not get more chips on the table? But I’d already bought most of my chips and I didn’t feel like tracking down more chips at high prices.
Speaking of high prices, I had to splurge for a rack of T100s. But it was kind of worth it, since that was my favorite chip in the lineup. And I planned on selling off a barrel or two to offset the costs, since I only needed three barrels for this plan. But I got to thinking. They don’t have to be 1500 stacks. If I want more chips in the stacks, why not just add more hundreds? It made a lot of sense to me because those are the denom that will be on the table for the whole tournament. And if they’re my favorite chip in the set, why not uses lots of them? So I’m going for 2,000 stacks with 10/10/12/1 and I’m feeling pretty good about it.

Here you go - T2,000 starting stacks with either two 2k rebuys available or one rebuy and one 2500 addon

That's a very fine set and breakdown...congrats Sir

I did the same with the HSI pri tourney set (but have 2 table breakdown)

10/10/7/2 for 2 tables
10/10/12/1 for 1 table

For a leaded RHC set i'm building, I went for 3 racks of hundos
10/10/12/1 for 2 tables

First 3 rebuys are a barrel of hundos, 4 $500 chips after that...

Well, the chips are great. But I might end up selling them off, because hosting tournaments is a pain in the butt. Now I remember why I haven't hosted a tournament in 5 years. I don't know how you guys host multi-table tournaments regularly. Hosting a single table is exactly all I can handle and that's still way too much. I love tournament poker the most, but for hosting, I'll probably stick to cash.
But damn those hundreds are pretty.

I love hosting tournaments but it’s always single table and we’re all tournament players so everyone is used to it. If you have a cash crowd it might not be that great.
