Hello there everyone.
Just one more breakdown thread.
I know the ideal spread is something like 100/200/300/100. So cutting it to the chase.
If my current game was 0.25/0.25 I would only need 100 *.25, 200 *1 and 50 *5.

This breakdown can cover 0.05 up to 1/2 easily. Now the problem and the real question.
My group is in Europe. 0.05$ and 0.25$ are foreign entities. We usually play for fun 8-handed 0.10€/0.20€ blinds with a buy-in of 20-40€ and total bank of around 250€. The group can definitely support up to 0.50/1€ and buy ins 100-150€ but the game would become too serious.
Is 0.10/0.25 blinds a real game to accomodate existing denominations or just asking for trouble by introducing 2 blind chips (0.05&0.25)?
Or should I just tell people to suck it and up the stakes to 0.25/0.25?

So better to get
100 - 0.05
200 - 0.25
250 - 1$
300 - 5$
75 - 20$/25$
25 - 100$ (bank value)

Or ignore the 0.05 and only get 100 *0.25?

You could go for 10ct/50ct fracs. A 5c chip is pretty much useless as soon as you move up in stakes.
A friend of mine is actually building a 10c/50c/$2/$10 set atm to accommodate the same stakes that you're playing.
I did not go full european with the denoms but I build my set for 10c/20c as well:

1/5/20-25/100 is a must in my mind.
I Understand the logic behind the 0.10-0.50 chips, but having 0.50 and 1.00 in the same set, seems weird to me, isn't it? Same problem is 0.10 and 0.25 or skipping one frac.
If it were up to me I'd make the game 0.25/0.25, but people find it weird to have same value blinds.

Yes those are the options with their respective drawbacks. You have a denom that only doubles to the $1 if you go 10ct/50ct. So this sucks if you are on a budget and want to have the most effective breakdown with the least amount of chips.
If you go with just a 25c you effectively move your homegame up in stakes with a denom that does not exist in the Euro zone (for the Yankees: we don't have quarters around here. It's 0.05/0.10/0.20/0.50/1).
So yes, both options aren't perfect. I know why I chose what I chose but you do you, sir. ;)

Do what is best for you and your group. 10c-25c blinds is not completely irregular and seems like it would accommodate your game's stated buy-in pretty well. Stolen from one of the better cash game breakdown posts:

10c/25c Mapping - $50 Max Buy In for 200 Big Blinds

Chip Denominations

5c/25c/$1/$5/$25

Max Buy In Starting Stacks

10x 5c (50c)
14x 25c ($3.50)
11x $1 ($11)
7x $5 ($35)

Chips Needed - 500 Total Chips

100x 5c ($5)
150x 25c ($37.50)
125x $1 ($125)
75x $5 ($375)
50x $25 ($1,250)

Total Bank: $1,792.50

That is for a 10-handed game and you can obviously change that up a bit. From your OP, it seems to me you could get buy with way less chips than what you were brainstorming and the 5c increase in big blind would be an easy adjustment.

So better to get
100 - 0.05
200 - 0.25
250 - 1$
300 - 5$
75 - 20$/25$
25 - 100$ (bank value)

Or ignore the 0.05 and only get 100 *0.25?
Consider 250/300/75/25 of the $1,$5,$20,$100 chips, plus 200-250 of a non-denomination frac if you want to use a frac value more common in Euros vs USD.

You can use this frac as a dime for .10/.20, or a quarter for .25/.25 and .25/.50 games.

You only lose the nickels and the .05/.10 stakes but get to play .10/.20 with a dime that matches the 0.10€ coin.
