Hi all,
next saturday night there will be a 2 table 16 player tournament with my friends and I'd really like to use this set of mine:

200x $1
150x $5
100x $25
50x $100
25x $500
5x $1000
1x $5000

The plan is to run a T300 tournament (I like 150bb better than 100bb though that's not really important).
I'm concerned about the starting stack and the availability of chips for rebuys. We usually allow rebuys for the first 4 levels and I'd say no more than 6 in total will be needed.

Would it be possible to run this tournament in a reasonable way or should I use another set?

Last but not least, what blind structure would you suggest for a 5/6hrs tournament?

Thank you!

I'll make an attempt at this.

Stacks of
T1----10
T5-----8
T25---6
T100--1

L1 1-2
L2 1-3
L3 2-4
L4 3-6
L5 4-8
L6 6-12
L7 8-16
L8 10-20 -- remove T1
L9 15-30
L10 20-40
L11 30-60
L12 40-80
L13 60-120
L14 80-160
L15 100-200 -- remove 5T
L16 150-300
L17 200-400 --- game ends about here
L18 300-600

Use 20 minute levels

How did I do?

Edit... a possible issue I can see is constant change making due to the T100 chip being 1/3 of the starting stack. A T200 starting stack might work better in this instance. I'll now defer to the more experienced posters.

2nd edit Took out 25-50 and added more levels. Level 2 could be skipped as well.

I think @rjbf65 's starting stacks are fine. No worries about changing 100s, plenty of quarters on the tables. If someone gets felted, someone else has 6 extra quarters, 12 total.

3 x 300 is fine for rebuys. Use one hundo and the extra quarters and redbirds running off the singles.

This is great timing, guys. Just last night, I was searching for, but didn't find, a tournament structure for a T300 or T400 for a set of chips with denoms 1/5/25/100 that I took some pictures of yesterday (see pic below). I really like the chip counts and levels @rjbf65 outlined above, based on the OP's set breakdown, but allow me to suggest a few tweaks to the levels.

L10 20-40 ------Game should end here
With regards to when a tournament will end, I've heard two rules of thumb before:
1) Tourney will probably end a level or two before the big blind equals the buyin chip amount (for 1 or 2 table tournaments)
2) Tourney will likely end when big blind equals roughly 4-5% of all chips in play

Going by rule #2, if there are 16 players @ T300 that's 4800 total chips, so 4 to 5% would be at BB 200 or 250; this also meets rule #1. Based on this, the tournament would last longer than Level 20-40. So, with that in mind, I'd suggest skipping the 1-3 level and the 25-50 level, and maybe going down to 20 or 25 minute levels.

There may be some change making, but I play in a single table tournament that has a T10000 staring stack with one 5000 chip (1/2 of the starting stack), and although there is some change making, it's not constant.

Crap...my math was off. I thought it was weird that it ended at level 10. Good catch. I agree with those tweaks.

L5 4 8
L6 6 12
L7 8 16
