Whelp. Haven't been to Vegas in 4 months and this was a new addition that I saw this week.

So sad. The printing is bad. The molds are worse (marks all over edges) They spin. They slip...

About 25% of the live rack is now plastic.
55% is worn and damaged housemold Paulsons.... And only 20% relatively sharp still. But expect that to not last much longer.

I managed to get 15 singles during this trip to finish off my 3rd full racks of these. Doubt I'll bother to try to get more.

Do you think more casinos will follow this trend? After all they might go after cutting costs with cheaper plastics.

They are cheap and bad but I wouldn’t say no to them .10/20c a chip

Seeing as though most casinos are owned by larger companies, I'd say after a brief test, it's inevitable. Remember; Other than in a poker room, chit cards are a casinos wet dream.

I hate Icon so, so much
I really don't like the look of high end plastic chips, like Bud Jones and others - I guess they're considered molds, but they just look like squiggles and weird little shapes to me and I've just never liked them. But they have character! They have a look, even if it isn't for me. This icon CRAP is just a copy of their clay chips, and a crappy copy at that! They are soulless garbage. I hope they all melt.

Yes I think this is my grudge against them - they're just such insanely bad effort. And by that I don't mean it's lazy in any way to try to clone the original chips - it is the casino currency and matching old to new is fine enough. It's the WAY they're doing it - shit quality chip blank and honest to god terrible printing.

What's wrong with the world. I find those totally ugly. Is it really worth it for casinos to get those instead of other brands?

Imagine getting arrested, because the lady at the cage realizes that you’re trying to cash in counterfeits because they look nicer than the actual chips…

How long until the Twitter posts about someone cashing in a Tina tribute of a $500 Icon Four Queens chip, that they don't pick up on because Tina does better work than Icon?

Tell me they’re not actually using icon for a denom that high? That would be insane.

Re: counterfeiting, I think the true test will arise if/when the plastic craze goes to high denom chips. With a handful of exceptions (most notably the Marina casinos in AC), I’m not seeing too many new ceramic $1ks replacing compression clay $1ks. If Four Queens actually replaced their $500s with Icons, they deserve whatever’s coming.

Ofc I’m sure there are plenty of exceptions, but I don’t think many people are risking a felony fraud charge over a few racks of $1s or $5s. $500s—maybe—but if a casino gets popped letting in fake high value chips they almost deserve it.

^^ this ^^

Note to all newer members....STOP spending money on ceramic & cheap plastic 'n stuff.
Those will be available forever...the time is NOW to buy chips that soon will be gone forever.

I can see 2 very minty racks of Sahara $1 chips sitting for days and members like @djmarc & @casinochipper22 posting great offerings on regular basis.
Plenty of options (for now)

Give it 5 more years and the main Vegas clay sources will be gone (and plenty good ones are already RIP)
