Alright so who was it that stole all these chips?! (2 Viewers)

$8000, eh? I kinda hope it's 40 racks of these:

Will fence for 25% of face value, no questions asked.

No RFID in the $2's.

If they got away with 80 of the hundos I'd offer to buy cheap but that would leave the very big problem of wanting to fill out the rack...

I do like the blue on them, makes me wish CPC had a nice bright DG blue :(

"Most casinos have radio frequency identification packed into the chips. Those chips communicate with the gaming tables, and once a casino realizes the chips are gone, they can turn off the transmitters, making them virtually worthless."

I get that they have RFID. But it is a passive system. How can they turn off the transmitters? They can flag serial numbers so when they are put in play it sets off some sort of notice to the floor, but other than that....

It almost feels like the casino is puffing themselves up like "Don't you dare try to cash those, cuz we're gonna crush you if you try". Seeming really strong when they're weak... Thoughts?

Highly doubt that ALL the chips have RFID. Unless is was 8 $1000 chips that were swiped from a busy craps table.
The $100s and up wouldn't surprise me if they were tagged, but I'd bet they were pinched high denoms.

In Atlantic City, the biggest snatching target was always a handful of grapes. (A stack of purple $500 chips.)

It's very hard to find a snatch opportunity on orange $1000 chips, even at a busy craps table... the box man (or woman) keeps the bank chips tucked safe up against the wall.

Busy craps tables are better for people stealing from players.

Snatches were usually at the higher-stakes blackjack and/or conventional table games, where the rack is in easier reach. They usually pick the tables closest to the fire exits.

That 2 dollar chip really is nice. Too bad that there is no info on type of chips. If it's 8000 ones or 4000 2 it's really interesting for chip collectors.

If all of the sudden a couple racks of these appears on CL or eBay I wouldn't touch them. I presume the feds are watching closely.

Ha. I was just playing there a few weeks ago. I live in Chicago but drove up to Cinci for the Cubs' games.

This reminds me of several years ago when that dude nabbed a bunch of cranberries from bellagio and then tried to sell them on twoplustwo

Anyone remember that half-wit? :)

Yea, "turning off the transmitters" is obviously not an accurate description of what they could do...but as you said, they know the missing RFIDs and I assume even the most basic system is going to be able to alert the pit when those chips re-enter the floor. Seems a good enough solution for the casino. I don't think they're bluffing too much...I certainly wouldn't call them down :)
