Hello all,

i’ve recently bought my first set of 400 EPT chips. I’m mainly going to use it at home with friends. Maximum 6-8 players and have 1 rebuy.

I like to play differents tournaments (T500, T1000, T5000, T10000, T20000)

The set i got now:
25 - 80x
50 - 80x
100 - 80x
500 - 60x
1000 - 60x
5000 - 40x

I might want to buy this extra:
5 - 100x
25 - 20x
50 - 20x
100 - 20x
500 - 20x
1000 - 20x
5000 - 20x

What is your opinion on this breakdown?

For a T20000 game, I prefer 12/12/5/6/2. Your set as it stands would work for 8 players with those stacks. If you ever expect to get 10 players, you could give half 12/12/5/6/2 and the other half 8/8/4/7/2, but 120 of the T25’s and T100’s would be a bit better.

Thanks for your response. So 40 extra in 25’s and 40 extra 100’s. If i got 120 extra more chips in which should i invest. I like to invest in 5’s

I assume for now that you only want to buy the extra chips you need. Most people stock their sets to support a full ring 10 players, but not necessary if your game goes only to 8 players. You could add on just the following +200 chips. This is an additional purchase about the same size as in your initial post.

T5 0x +100 = 100x (as per your desire to do T5 events).
T25 80x +20 = 100x
T100 80x +20 = 100x
T500 60x +0 = 60x
T1000 60x +40 = 100x
T5000 40x +20 = 60x

I am leaving out the $50 chip since it is not common/needed. The $5 are only needed if you want to run T5 tournaments. If you are trying to stick to a budget, I would leave out the $5 chips and stick to more common T25 and T100 base tournaments, which most players prefer anyway since that is what is not common in casinos and televised events. Then you could get away with just buying 100 more chips. This should allow you to host up to 8 players in stack sizes of 5K, 10K or 20K events with rebuys.

That extra breakdown sounds nice! Thanks guys for the fast response and help. I really appreciate it.

I personally don’t prefer T5-based tourneys, so I won’t endorse that. But if you want them, go for it.

I’d choose more a versatile set that can handle more players or deeper stacks of it were my money.

What do you mean with deeper stacks? Sorry, i’m a bit new in this game haha.

I normally play with a few people. So I like to have more choices to switch up the game

He means that if your blinds start at 25/50 a 5k starting stack per player is 100 BB (Big Blinds), while a 10K stack is 200 BB, making it deeper in the sense that you have more depth (bets) given the same blinds to manage your play with skill vs the pressure of increasing blinds.

I don’t think just changing from T5 to T25 to T100 will provide variety if it is all NLHE games. I would stick to one base (like T25) and add variety by changing depth (starting stack size) and adding bounties, and try different tourney games, like omaha, stud, lowball and split pot games.

So in that case I should invest in something like this:

T25 80x +40= 120x
T100 80x +40= 120x
T500 60x +20= 60x
T1000 60x +60= 120
T5000 40x +20 = 60x
T10000 0x + 20 = 20 x

If you want a flexible T25 base set then just go for this mix of 600 chips. It is the most common/recommended setup for a 600 chip set. It will do anything from 5k to 35k stacks for ten players and support rebuys for up to 20k stacks and even higher with 8 players. No need for a 10k chip.

T 25 - 160x
T 100 - 160x
T 500 - 80x
T 1k - 140x
T 5k - 60x

This will also support a T100 base tournament for 8 players with rebuys.

Perfect! Thanks for all the info.

Good luck. I recommend you search the forum and find two good blind schedules, a T25 and a T100. There are many discussions and a good schedule will help your game run smoothly and end around the expected time you are shooting for. You can get a schedule to be a fast, 2 hour turbo or go 4-5 hours with deep stacks. That does depend on how you want your game to be. This chip set will support any of those games, but the blind schedule is key to making your game play out how you want.
