I clarified with my "really" ;).

I know they are allowed, but would anything other than customs have a chance at making the calendar? I remember asking a seasoned PCF member if non-customs would make the cut in recent years (I know they had in the past) and the response I received was something like "probably not - maybe if they made another calendar "

If the issue is that all the epic non-custom sets have made it into the calendar years ago, then that's cool. Just wanted to mention.
I have to agree on the non-customs sets not given a fair shake at times. I have not really seen anything other than customs in the calendar but it has been in the "rules" for at least the last couple of years that all were sets were welcome. This year we will see how it goes with the casino and fantasy sets. We also have to take into account the influx of custom sets that we had last year. It will be interesting to see how it goes this year.

There have been some amazing casino sets in there in years past....

April 2014 - Kadrik's Bellagio set
December 2014 - AfterTheFact's Nevada Club TRKs
May 2015 - gopherblue's Riverside Hotel & Casino TRKs
September 2015 - AfterTheFact's Mapes Family Casino TRKs

My wife makes a family one of these every year, with multiple pics for each month. I know it is a huge pain in the ass, but lemme throw this out there anyway...

What about nominating chips by month? So start a thread to nominate a December pic, and maybe you get a candy cane striped pic (or maybe not)... October, and maybe you get an earth tone solid set, or one with bright fall colors... July and maybe you get red, white and blue pics.

That might actually make it easier for the creater, as you already have the months laid out.

Is there an approximate cost on these calendars, shipped? I realize a lot of factors need to be taken in to consideration, so I wouldn't hold you to a price.

I will be nominating two fantasy sets for this year's calendar. We'll see how they fare against what I expect to be a pretty good crop of nominated custom sets.

It's does take a little time to put together but I think it is well worth it. I think by having all of the sets stand on their own and not tied to a month it gives each set the same chance to make the calendar. Once all of the sets are picked then I usually ask some if they wanted a particular month. Some are a given like 2017 calendar had the Black Cat Club in October and sets featured in a particular meet up were put with the month of the said meet up. That is actually the easy part once all the sets have been picked.

Current full price calendars are $34.99 for the 12 x 12 and $19.99 for the desk calendar but there are many coupons that come out so it pays to keep a close eye for those.

It looks like we will have plenty of people wanting a calendar so it looks like a go. Start thinking of the nominations that you would like to submit. I will post the official Thread for nominations on or around August 1st.

This is very true. I don't think there were very many people who paid full price last year (at least I hope not.) There were plenty of coupons around for X dollars or Y percent off shutterfly orders.

Yep... I recall paying around $20 for the wall calendar.

A couple of years ago the only expense was shipping due to the coupons :)

Got it. @David O will cover everything except shipping. Thanks.

;)

My wife usually pays like $20 each for these around December...

Now the only thing I need to do is convince her that I'd rather look of picture's of everyone else's chips rather than my own kids...

Colleen wasn't a big fan of the poker chip calendar. Ended up taking it to work

Possibly. Depends on the set & re pr0n, really.

As for me, I tend to use the calendar as a "Best of the Year" award for customs so it would take something Herculean to bounce a custom set. That said, I will absolutely be nominating at least one casino set this year.

I would disagree slightly on it being a "custom" calendar. I think in the past year we had tons of custom sets due to the lack of available casino sets. I think there were some great sets that were knocked out of contention because there were so many custom sets nominated. I felt confident that my set would have made it if there was not so many customs nominated but C'est la vie! I plan to nominate it once more since it has grown!

Anyway I guess the discussion going forward should be how many sets should a person be allowed to nominate? Maybe a poll would be in order prior to the actual nomination phase.

Should probably try and get a hot stamp set in this years calendar ( who do we know getting a hot stamp set made?) Ill look into it and get back to you. lol

Thanks Dave for all the effort you put into this!

As long as the Windy Crest Tournament set makes the cut - I don't care what the rest of you vote for the other 11 months  :whistling::whistle: :whistling:;)

I also disagree that it's a calendar for customs. My vote simply tends to lean strongly that way.

For many casino sets I either can go or have been to the places they were used, play with those chips, seen them in scores of pictures already on the internet, etc. It's not to say that casino sets aren't nice - some of them are exquisite! - but often times those casinos have received other publicity or were at one point widely available for use. Most custom sets, however, I'll never have the pleasure to see or use myself, so I generally vote for those sets that are otherwise far less accessible to me than casino sets; and, if I'm using this as an opportunity to see sets I'd not normally have as much access to, I may as well vote for my favorites, thus my vote tends to be a "Best/Favorite custom sets of the year" vote.

As for how many sets we can nominate, I have no strong opinion. Probably somewhere between 3-11, but I think the calendar editor's opinion matters more here than ours - I'm cool with whatever number you think works for your process.
